I'm 5'7 185 with decent size legs would medium be the best fit?

I am 230 lb., 34 inch waist an muscular legs, I got the mediums and they fit great, nice compressing without restricting my movement. So to answer your question, if I were with your measurements, I would get medium for comfort and smalls for lotsa of compression.

there is a size and weight calculator on the order page. they fit very snug i could have went 1 size lager without a problem

Im 5’3 waist 32 weight 145.. what size is best for me?

Well, I'm 5'11 waist 44 weight 265. I have a size XXL and it fits great. The best size for you would be a medium size.

Do these work well as a base layer for winter or all-year wear?

winter? well depends on your winter. they are not "heavy" lined pants so in cold weather, may not be what you are after. I wear them in cooler weather and rainy days. temp around a low of 4 degrees c. I am in Vancouver bc. so not usually really cold hear.
