Mantreshwar was the greatest astrologer of 12th century. One of the best books on Predictive Astrology. 865 Slokas and 28 Chapters translated into English by Dr. G.S. Kapoor. Mantreswara has equated a retrograde planet with an exalted planet in strength and effects even though it be in an inimical or its debilitation sign differing with Saravali which states that benefics are powerful when retrograde and cause Raja yoga (Hindu astrology) but malefic when retrograde do not confer favorable results. LOT OF THINGS TO LEARN
One of the best book in Astrology i have ever read. Point to Point rules and translation is in simple language which is very easy to understand. almost covers all topics and I am.sure everyone will get lot of things learn. Recommended for buying

English translation and commentaries are not upto the mark
At many instances, the translated text does not convey the exact meaning. In order to grasp the exact meaning/content, I had to refer hindi transalation of phaladeepika by Pandit Gopesh Kumar Ojha (i have pdf). Comparing the two books, I found hindi one to be more descriptive(contains more than 650 pages), the slokas are better translated, have good example and , more importantly, written with a better astrology bent of mind. So this translation of phaladeepika is not recommended. Phaladeepika is undoubtedly one of the most useful work in predictive astrology but the quality of translation is not upto the mark which fails to convey the correct meaning of Sanskrit work. This book does not seem to be translated from Sanskrit to English, but it seems to be translated from Hindi( Pandit Ojha’s) to English because even the examples are as it copied. Nakl ke liye bhi akl ki jaurut hoti hai Mr Kapoor.
