A Great Value, my 3rd Hoover Floor Machine
Not perfect, but for the $ the performance is amazing and I can easily accept issues like the little puddle of water after turning off. My first-2 Floormates lasted 5+ years each, "not bad". The machine's ability to rinse and then extract the dirty water is a huge benefit resulting in a degree of clean that is difficult to duplicate with just a mop. Previous to owning a Floormate I would wash with a long handle floor brush or microfiber mop, then use a long handle floor squeegee and then a small wet vac to extract the dirty puddle of water. The ability of the Floormate to extract is not perfect but very good. I would definitely pay more $ for a more commercial-grade-like model by Hoover similar to the Sanitaire version of the Bissel Crosswave (I own a Crosswave, I don't like it). FYI, I rarely write reviews, I just finished cleaning my floors, long-story-short, I am happy I have a Floormate.

Didn't scrub adequately
This is a very frustrating and dysfunctional piece of equipment. I have tile flooring in my kitchen, therefore there are grout lines and a small amount of texture to the tiles. (maybe this thing works on totally smooth flooring, but not on the tile?) The brushes on this machine are so soft that they do not scrub adequately. The water dispensing does not seem to work very well, and the suction/water removal is very weak. I used it with the instruction booklet in one hand as I tried to use it! I had my grown son come and trouble shoot for me, to no avail. It seemed to be functioning as it was supposed to, but it was grossly inadequate in the effectiveness of scrubbing and in the removal of the dirty water. After about an hour, we abandoned it and pulled out the good old mop. I thought this would be a helpful tool for me since I have an injured knee and cannot get down to scrub on my hands and knees anymore. This is certainly not the machine for me. It is easy to take apart and put back together, filling the water tank, emptying the dirty water tank, except that is barely suctioned up any of the dirty water. At any rate, I don't havae anything positive to say about this machine. It was sadly a complete waste of time and money.

Better than a Bissell!
This Hoover powerdash is lot better than the Bissell Crosswave. The suction is better because it has a rubber edge that touches the floor, it has more water output for better scrubbing, and it works better on tile. I added a little vinegar to my cleaner for an elderly cat issue and it worked wonderfully. I took a pic of what’s I used and the size of the canister. The cleaner canister is 1/2 the size of the dirty water canister. As you can see from the pic of the assembled canisters, my floors were disgusting, and I had been using a Bissell Crosswave. The picture shows a full canister of dirty water to the rear with about 1/3 clean water in the front. Also, it automatically stops when the dirty water is full, like the Bissell, so you know when to empty it. I could fill my old cleaner twice before emptying the dirty water in my Bissell because it didn’t pick up as much water. Also, I didn’t vacuum first and it didn’t clog once. I had to unclog my Bissell at least three times every time I did my floors, even with vacuuming first! It was awful! Also, the Bissell has a cloth roller that stays wet and gets smelly. The Hoover has plastic scrubbers that are turn circles horizontally on the floor instead of rotating like a rolling pin, so it scrubbed better and dried fast so it’s never smelly. It took three washes to get all the dirt out of the grout on my floor, but it’s only tea colored dirty water when I use it now. The first time it was like coffee, the second time it was like coffee, the this time it was hardly dirty at all, but I wanted to be sure I got all the dirt. Today when I cleaned the entire house, it was like tea, and I can wear white socks and they stay clean. I couldn’t do that with my Bissell. I’m glad I made the change to Hoover. It is heavier than the Bissell, and my hand got a little tired from holding the cleaner release lever. I’ll probably clamp it shut with a Velcro strip in the future. Overall, I’m very happy! I spent a lot less on my Hoover and it’s a much better product!

useful if you mop a lot
I will start this much the same as my review of the previous model: This is not a vacuum. It sucks water. It does not clean up debris that isn't dissolved in that water. If you are content with a quick vacuuming of your floor and only find yourself mopping during "spring cleaning" or a few other occasions then you will likely just see these types of more electric mops than vacuums as a needless extra step rather than useful. If you mop a lot or want to clean better than your typical vacuum and hand mop they can be a great additional cleaning tool. If you want to replace your vacuum and mop completely you will need something considerably more expensive that is capable of doing both jobs fully. Second: REMOVE THE CARDBOARD! I failed to do so on both hoover models despite a sticker on this one. I checked the brushes where the cardboard was previously and didn't see any. Turns out it's in the suction cover on this model. If someone says their new vac refused to pick up water they probably failed to remove the cardboard blocking the suction. We have 4 large, heavy shedding dogs with 1 getting old enough to have problems making it outside and one younger one that decides to copy the older dog. We also have several cages of chinchillas that like to throw bedding dust, poop, and food out of their cage. Our house is all 1800's hardwood or vinyl. We started with a hoover floormate. It was awesome compared to hauling a mop and bucket around. Often 2 buckets so I wouldn't have to dirty my clean water and end up changing it as much. We probably save as much on cleaner in a year or 2 of using these mop/vacuums compared to buckets full of water as the vacuums cost. Unfortunately the motor on the floormate died quickly (probably death by dog hair) and it cost about as much to ship it back as to buy a new one. So we bought a bissell crosswave. The crosswave has benefits and negatives compared to the hoover versions. in the end I found the bissell great for quick, light cleaning but mostly useless for thoroughly cleaning our old wood floors. We finally had the extra money to buy a new floormate and saw it was discontinued for this model. The powerdash is very similar to the floormate. It seems less prone to clogging by pet fur. It has much stronger suction than the crosswave. That may be due to design as much as the motor. The powerdash has a narrow strip in front of the brushes that it sucks water up into with a rubber/plastic squeegee type edge on it. The bissell crosswave has a roller brush and sucks water behind the entire thing without a lower front edge. On a very flat floor you can feel the resistance from the powerdash sucking itself down on to the floor. The bissell crosswave will pick up dog fur with ease and even bits of large dog food or other small debris. The hoover powerdash will just push the debris around in front of it and clogs quickly with things like pet fur if not cleaned after nearly every use. However, the crosswave is more a light rinse for the floor that removes some surface dirt and obvious mess. It also does not put out enough liquid for dried on or larger messes so we have to keep a sprayer on hand to apply extra floor cleaner. The powerdash will get cracks, uneven areas, and ground in dirt much better than the bissell and leaves less water behind despite pushing more water out. The brushes also seem to scrub the floor much better than the roller. but you will need to vacuum the floor of all visible clumps of dirt, dust bunnies, spilled pet food, cat litter, etc... first. I would not trust either brand to fully clean grouted tile but the powerdash would do a much better job on uneven surfaces. If you have messy pets, messy children, allergies, or just like to keep things cleaner than most the powerdash is a good choice to simplify frequent mopping and pick up more dirt or allergens. None of these mop vacs are a fast way to clean a whole room. They must be pushed slowly to have time to fully clean. They are quick at cleaning up small contained liquid messes and will suck up a considerable amount of liquid in seconds.

Wow, what a disappointment!
I was very excited to order this and try it out. First problem: It came out of the box broken! Design SUCKS and product quality could improve 10 fold. HOOVER-I'm talking to you here-The upper portion of the vacuum is sturdy and heavy, which I like! It seems like a quality household cleaning tool. The bottom end is made from frail, brittle plastic that clearly has NO DURABILITY WHATSOEVER. Given that the edges of the plastic were broken into pieces when I pulled it out of the box. Upon my first use, things were working pretty well. I was impressed at how well it seemed to clean my slate stone floor. This is probably the hardest floor EVER to clean, and I thought I could accept all the design issues if it at least did a good job cleaning my difficult-to-clean floor. It picked up about 1/3 of the water it laid down, so I had to dry my floor with an old bath towel. Fine. Job ended with a satisfactory clean floor. Well, then came the deal breaker. I refilled the clean water canister and set my 8 year-old to the task of cleaning the dining room floor. This one is MUCH easier, given that it is a smooth vinyl plank floor. He was successful at cleaning about 25% of the floor, but all of a sudden the water would not flow. No FLOW. Why? I still don't know. It certainly had plenty of water in the clean water tank. And the dirty water tank was showing even LESS collected than before. So it wasn't an issue with the tanks. I spent about 2 hours on hold with Hoover while simultaneously trying to get help from their online chat-bot. I did all the things they recommend to "trouble shoot" a NO FLOW situation: check the tanks are installed properly, check the handle is installed properly, ensure water is in the tank. NO DICE. At the end of the 2 hour ordeal, I finally was transferred to a human being, whose first recommendation was that I fill the clean water tank! "Lady, do you honestly think I've been trying to run it with no water in it?" By then I was out of time... If I have a brand-new out-of-the-box product that A) is broken when I get it, B) seems frail and poorly made from the onset, and C) doesn't perform it's basic function within 24 hours of being placed into service... Well, Hoover! You lost me on this one, pal! Back to the drawing board! I would LOVE to invest in a good quality automatic mopping machine that can clean my stone kitchen floor... but this is NOT it.

Open the Tube Ends!
This is my second Hoover Powerdash Pet "Mop." I have a 3000 sq ft - old house - real wood - 4 kids - 2 dogs/2 cat floors. My first mop mopped itself to death!! I love the scrubbers on the bottom, not a cloth or soft like others, definitely not a mop and dirty water bucket - my floors feel clean! BUT I have NEVER been so upset with a new item! The design had not changed from my first mop, so I unboxed, filled it with hot water and solution, and started mopping. Pushed forward while squeezing the trigger and NOTHING! No water/solution went onto the floor. I tried several times - nothing. I thought maybe I missed a packing covering - something had to be blocking the water/solution. Took the mop back apart- no hiding cardboard, plastic, or inserts. I checked the water/solution tank- no blockage, attached correctly. I tried again- nothing! I was very confused; I googled it. After watching several unpacking videos and several how-to videos, I stumbled onto a man explaining about a clogged tube. He noticed that the water/solution was not coming out. He showed using a paperclip to clean out the end of the tubes near the brushes. There was no way mine were clogged but I was desperate (and a bit mad at this point). Unplugged it, took off both tanks, and hoisted it up to look at the exit tubes in front of the brushes. Well, the tubes weren't clogged - THEY HAD NO OPENING! All 3 were sealed shut. WHY??? Why would the end of the water/solution tube be sealed?? You must have water/solution to mop! I used the video man's paperclip trick to open the ends. I thought that I could mop now - WRONG! Still nothing came out. Honestly, I had to walk away from it for a while. This mop cost alot of money and it didn't work! I had my hubby to look it over. He discovered that the tube that takes the water/solution from the tank to the part that connects it to the 3 exit tubes - can you guess - IT HAD NO OPENING! Used the paperclip trick, put it all back together and it worked. Not great though. Not enough liquid was coming out and definitely not evenly. So back apart it went. We did this 3 times before the tubes were open enough and equal in the amount that came out. I have used the mop daily since. It's still not perfect in the liquid dispersement section but it's better than no liquid. So, this review is to say... I love my new mop but not as much as my old one. It's a great item to really clean floors. BUT I should not have to work on a brand new, expensive mop before it's first use!

The BEST Hoover hard floor cleaner yet
I have used the last three models of the Hoover hard floor cleaner and I can say absolutely that this is the best model they have put out. I always use the Hoover hard floor cleaners because they get my floor the most clean and because they are the best at getting all of my dog hair off the floor. That hasn't changed. Here is what I like better about the new model. First, it is taller by several inches. I am 5 foot 9 inches and I was always hunched over to use the previous models. I loved how tall this model is and the large handle to hold. It was just so much more comfortable to stand and use. I also like the lever you push to squirt out the water. I always got calluses on my finger using the lever on previous models. Every Saturday when I cleaned my floors I would get a blister on my finger. But this one is so much easier to push and to use. Love it. Also, I like the power button on this model. Simply easier to turn on and off and at a much higher level so I don't have to hunch over to push it (usually several times on previous models.) This model also got under my kitchen bench much farther because it was able to angle closer to the floor. In short, this model is better for taller people like me, it is more comfortable to use all the way around, and it gets under low objects much better. I actually also like the filter system it uses to clean better too. I felt like it got water off the floor better. And the parts were all much easier to get cleaned at the end when I was rinsing everything out. Part of that is they changed how they filter the dirty water so the big yellow filter is gone which made cleaning the parts much harder before. I am so happy to have this new machine and definitely recommend it.

Absolutely no suction
I bought this as a birthday gift myself. I love my past hard for scrubbers machines. I decided to use a different brand this time had a little before now use a Hoover but here’s the problem it scrubbed fine. I mean the water came out good and you can see the brushes moving, but it did not suck anything up at all it just kept moving the water around. I took the front cover off thinking maybe it’s on the wrong and they replaced it at least three times I checked the water reservoir returned. Make sure that was on their good. Nothing seemed to work. I don’t understand why it wasn’t working. It sounds like it would have excellent section. You can hear it trying, but I don’t get it. Why it’s not working I sure have my hopes up in this machine, but I think I’m gonna go back to the other machine that I had. I’m returning this one I’ve already put in for the return so tomorrow I will drop it off unfortunately quite disappointed and I did keep the box that originally came in so I’m gonna return it. I cannot get it taken apart to fit back in the box, but I’ll let Amazon worry about that because I know I can’t do it. I don’t know how to do it and being disabled. I need something easy scrub brushes and mops hurt my back, but my floors are needing a good scrubbing and I’m so looking forward to that scrubbing and nice clean floors and grout. I wish everybody else better luck than I did. I wish you luck with yours.
