I bought this because I needed to ice my lower back. It is excellent it holds the cold temperatures for a long time . I also like it can be used as a heat pack but I haven't tried it for that. It is easy to put on and stays in place very well.

At first this was a reasonable item; it held cold for ~10-15 minutes, I never tried hot. It was sufficiently large for my back area. The velcro waistband is very clumsy, but it stayed in place. A sufficiently useful product.Take note of how every image associated with this product shows the fabric side towards the body, and the gel beads away from the body -- perhaps this is the failure mode for me as in order for it to be cold enough, I put the bead side towards the body.Four months later, the product is broken and thereby unusable. A seam between the clear plastic and the blue backing has failed, allowing all of the gel beads to leak out (picture attached).Flatly, "right side" in or out, a 4 month lifecycle for this type of product is unacceptable. There is clearly not enough design margin in place to tolerate any level of wear and tear. The particular joint/seam (one on each side) is presumably to separate into 3 areas for the beads to flow around. But those 3 areas are not fully separated, so it seems near pointless to have the seams at all. Eliminate the seams and put more gel beads into one larger pocket. Failure mode removed.If you must maintain these seams, they need to be much more robust, either through stitching, a grommet ring, or another method to more tightly secure the pinch points.They should also consider adding additional Velcro to the waistband so you can secure it at more than one place. There is only one Velcro segment, which leaves a very long "tail" for the rest of the waist band dangling. So you tuck it into itself or in a pocket or I don't know what else. Why not just Velcro the entire side so it can be whatever size it needs to be.I just bought a 2nd one a week before this one failed, I'll have to see what happens with it.I would recommend skipping this product and find a pack that is more robustly made and/or doesn't have seams like this.

Except that I found at a local discount grocer for half the price, I love this cold pack. Good size and chill lasts for an hour or more.

Easy to use

enjoyed it for a few days . but slept with and found it had burst during night.
