Life in the Lap pool lane so much easier.
I picked this up a couple weeks ago. My typical pool work out is 30 minutes or longer - 1500 yards plus. I wanted to wait a couple of weeks before writing this. Will cover 3 areas. Interface, fit and controls, and use.1. Interface. I am a network engineer by trade so I am used to very confusing difficult to use electronics. THIS IS SIMPLE. I got it. Plugged it into my Windows computer and left it there for a while to make sure that it charged. The device shows up as a USB drive. Drag MP3 files to it and it is ready to go. I have not tried anything fancy like play lists. The random play suffices for me. I have loaded 2 gig worth of music. Data transfer speeds are USB 2.0 so not as fast as I would like but it works. Most of the music I have is encoded at 128 bits but some are higher. There does not seem to be any issues between the different levels of encoding. I charge it up once a week and it runs great.2. Fit and controls. There are three buttons. On/Off/mode, forward/volume up, reverse/volume down. Very straight forward. The device fits on the back of the goggle strap very comfortable and is not noticeable in terms of weight. .63 grams. The ear buds are really were there is work to be done. And the Tree design is the best at keeping a water tight seal, however this can be uncomfortable. I STRONGLY suggest that before attempting to swim with this you test which ear piece fits best. My ear canals are not exactly the same size and some work was needed to get the best fit. Also by getting the ear pieces wet first they insert more easily and seal better in the canal. WARNING the ear pieces can come off in your ear. DO NOT PANIC. It may be useful to have tweezers on hand to aid in removal. This has NOT happened to me. The ear buds are tight and seal well. I strongly suggest that after a pool swim you wipe them down with fresh water and the ear pieces with a sanitizer of some kind. Music reproduction is great for what it is. This is NOT an audiophile head set like Shure or B&O or even Bose. You are swimming in water which significantly impacts the acoustics. That said the bass response was surprisingly deep and the highs very crisp.3. Use. Like I said. Test fit before you try to use in a workout. It is needful to very carefully tuck the wires under the goggle strap. I use the method in the manual kind of a S with the plugin to the player pointed downward towards my neck. I swim front crawl. Flip turns are possible BUT I hope you are better at them than I. I suspect a well executed flip turn will have better results than my clumsy attempts. In addition if you are not careful in your strokes your exhaust air and how your shoulders move can impact how well the ear buds stay sealed over the course of the workout.Conclusion. For the money hands down BEST MONEY I have spent on tech in a long long time! Very impressive. Simple, elegant and easy to use. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!

Worked great ... for two weeks
I liked the sound, the controls worked well, it connected easily out of the box, but the second time I tried to load new podcasts, it died. While I was downloading new podcasts to my computer in order to download them to the Syryn, the Syryn suddenly disconnected itself. It will no longer connect to any of the ports on my computer or to the ports on my husband's computer using a variety of cables. I can listen to the same podcasts over and over until the battery runs out, I guess. Super disappointed. I'll have to see if I can return it without the packaging.

Without a doubt, a wonderful swimming tool
This MP3 is an incredible tool for swimming laps. I bought it about six months ago and it has helped to encourage me to swim longer and faster laps. Because I have issues with my neck, I only swim with a snorkel so I don't have to come up for air, which means that my head is always under water. Prior to getting the SYRYN, I started to get bored swimming, but now it's like when you hear music and start dancing! Of course the sound quality isn't stereo, but it's quite good, especially under water. I wear a swim cap over my ears which helps the ear piece to hold into place and helps the sound to be very clear. The device is very, very lightweight and clips anywhere without weighing anything down. I clip it to my bathing suit, my swim cap, etc. The wires are short enough when swimming, and you can add the extension if you want it to be clipped lower, like a belt at your waist for running, etc. While I'm at the gym I leave them on and go swimming, then the jacuzzi, into the steam room and the sauna. Although I am quite technically inept, downloading music is simple with your computer or laptop. The only issue I have is keeping the earphones in my ears after swimming for awhile. That's because the water starts to seep under the suction bud around the earpiece. Hence, the swim cap over the ear to keep the water out. But when in the jacuzzi or sauna there's no need for a cap..You're going to love these if you swim and want to listen to music. It certainly enhances your motivation to work out longer and enjoy it to boot.
