Great everyday razor I've been enjoying for the past few months that works great on my tough beard. After about a two year period of trying to find cost saving shaving methods including SE, DE, and various cartridge subscriptions I gave up on blades. My tough beard would cause any cartridge to be dull and start tugging on the third day of shaving. After seeing reviews of this I decided to give it a go.For a close shave, it's not going to match a blade shave and probably most foil shavers. I would classify it (for me) as a one o'clock shadow. Good enough for work - and saves me agonizing razor burn and ingrown hairs. I normally use this wet with shaving cream and treat it pretty much like a wet/dry electric shaver that I rinse off as I shave - similar to what you do with a blade. Shaving time is pretty close to a blade shave since I normally wet shave with it.On the blade life, I am getting about two months on a blade with use three to five times per week close shaving. Again, I have a tough beard so your mileage may be better than mine. Also, the wet shaving may cause it to wear a bit faster. The cost of the replacement shave heads with subscription is comparable to any of the monthly blade cartridge subscriptions. The charge on it lasts me about three weeks and the percent readout is a nice so that you have a good notice of when to charge it. I do agree with other reviewers that the "carry bag" provided is a bit cheap. If I travel, I will probably get a carry case for it.

It works well and has never cut me. The charge lasts a long time which is good when going on vacation. You don't need to bring the charging cord with you. My only wish is that the replacement blades were cheaper. I find myself trying to see just how long I can make the blade last. For me I've been making it last 4 or 5 months.

I've been wanting to leave a review for this since I started using this trimmer, as it has, in many ways, changed my razor habits and I like it for what I use it for. I'll start with the PROs:- This is the first electric razor that can really mow down any length facial hair. If you're an inconsistent shaver like me, this will save you the step of having to trim down long facial hair before switching to a more traditional blade.- The blade is amazing at trimming random body hair, regardless of length. Especially those random patches that tend to grow all over as we get older.- The battery lasts a really long time--like weeks--between charges.- Small, lightweight, and great for travel.- The edge trimmer is so shallow and the RPMs so slow, it's difficult to nick yourself while trimming (except around the squishy parts).And now the CONs:- The blade is horrible for trimming thick, dense, soft hair, like on top of your head. Although you can use the edge trimmer to whittle it down, and the flat to get things smooth, the blade will be dull beyond use.- You will never get a close shave around your face.- You will often have to make three, five, or even ten passes to get all the hair in an area, particularly if it grows in random directions. However, it's FAST, so you can do those multiple passes just by going back and forth in a smooth rocking motion.- While it works in the shower, it definitely does not cut well when the hair is wet.- If you're using the blade guard to trim hair, it jams up easily.- Obviously, it doesn't fit in your nose or ears.So why do I like this razer if it's bad at everything? Because it's just so easy and fast to use, and the convenience often outweighs the quality of the shave. For example, if I'm travelling, I can use this to mow down a week's worth of jungle growth. Otherwise, I'd have to use a trimmer to hack down all the long hair, then a separate razer to actually shave with.And it's just great for moving down random back-side hair. Have you ever shaved your bottom, and then itched horribly as the new growth comes back out? Because this doesn't shave that close, there's so much less irritation and in-grown hairs. Big win.So, TL; DR, I have better tools to deal with hair on every part of my body -- but this is the one I grab when I'm travelling or just want to trim something really quick when I'm being lazy.

This machine will make your shaving life much easier. It's a great gift for every single man out there.Update: it's not the best when trimming long beard. The hair gets jammed in the trim guard so easily. You have to disassemble the guard, shake away the hair and reassembling it to continue trimming.

Not sure if this is better than the other version but works great

Closest electric shave ever, smooth, great shave. Not as close as 5 blade razor (which I can't use) BUT as good as a 2 or 3 blade razor and way better for your skin, so quick, so easy with or without shaving cream. Battery last for 20 shaves, great handle and shaves both directions. I love it so far.I see a few not so good reviews about closeness, even a razor you go over more than once, maybe I don't have as thick of beard like others. But check out YouTube lots of happy users with thick beards.

This one blade system is fantastic. My old dial up Norelco with NI MH battery was dying. I'm very impressed with their trimmer system. Instead of clipping on blade length attachments this one dials up cut length from 0.4 to 10 mm like my old one. Why buy the others with al those pieces for cut length??? Solid LI ION battery is still at 80% after two weeks. Excellent blade system, no snag, and this package comes with three, and two with guards for body scaping. Much better than man scape and others. Well worth it. You could take this on a two week vacation and not need a charger.
