Perfect gift
This was a perfect gift for a friend that likes to make terrariums. It was reasonably priced, arrived in one piece with good packaging, and is a fairly sturdy piece of glass. The turned wooden base and top give it an aesthetic appeal, and the mouth is wide enough to fit in tweezers or scissors for cleaning or arranging your build. I will probably buy this again to do my own build.

Absolutely love this terrarium!
I have included a couple of photos with my review. One shows the final product. The other shows the ball topper sealed vs the unsealed base. When you receive your terrarium the wood is unsealed. I could see this becoming an issue with mold and discoloration so I sealed the wood with some wood wax. Absolutely love the coloration and now it’s sealed. The terrarium arrived quickly and is just as described. I used it to make a moss terrarium and I love it so much I just ordered two more. Well built, beautiful, unique. Seal or stain your wood and you’re set! Highly recommend!

It’s lasted over 4 years
I purchased this lovely terrarium 4 years ago in order to put moss inside. It worked well for this and I eventually found a volunteer fern growing with the moss. However, I discovered that when I put the round wooden cap on over the open hole in the top that it tends to get stuck. My husband was able to pull off the cap off with a great deal of muscle two years ago when I wasn’t strong enough to do so myself. I frequently leave the top off in order to control the humidity. Many plants will not thrive if the humidity is too high. Weeks later when I noticed that the humidity was getting high again, I attempted to pull off the top, but to no avail. Even my husband couldn’t get it off this time. It’s been sitting in front of a window with the lid sealed by internal pressure. When I looked at it today, I discovered that there is now a crack going down the side of the glass running from the edge of the hole down about 3 inches and another inch jigging off to the left. The pressure must have increased causing the crack in the glass. This terrarium has lasted over 4 years now and honestly I would buy it again. But be careful about the lid. You might want to use something else to control the humidity instead of the wooden ball (such as a ball shaped sponge that’s flexible enough to pull off if the pressure gets too high). The glass is not as thin as it could be, but if it thicker, perhaps the glass would not have cracked. But this is just guesswork on my part. I will more than likely replace it because now humidity inside is probably lowering due to the crack. I paid a pittance for the mosses here on Amazon, so it isn’t a huge loss. But I would like to keep the volunteer fern if I can get it out.I noticed when I took this photo today that all of the moss has died. I wonder if the increased pressure or too much humidity had something to do with their demise? Or perhaps the air dried too much after the crack appeared causing a quick death. Just be careful with what you use for a lid.

Good quality
I bought this for a gift and my gf loved it. I did put a clear coat on the wood as it is unfinished. It makes an awesome smallish terrarium. It was the 1st one I made and it turned out great.

Love this!
I've collected African Violets for years. I've never had much luck with the miniature varieties and have heard they do well in terrariums. This plant was living in a ziploc bag and every time I would try to acclimate to my home it would take a turn. Three WEEKS in this simple terrarium and the Violet has blooms! I'm amazed! Highly recommend for small plants that thrive in humidity!
