POORLY ORGANIZED
Mandatory text for my French class. Although It does have lots of vibrant colors , they are actually a little distracting / snippets of info here and there with no clear order or progression / from the start "immersive" text with complicated instructions for each section written in French ( I needed to use Google Translate to figure out how to do the assignments). Expensive for what I got. Not my favorite at all.

Great French Book
This is a pretty good French book. It comes with a CD which I fell like nowadays is a little obsolete, specially for MAC users like myself. But the book also offer an online version of the audios which is great. I have been studying French for about 3 months now and my teach uses this book. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

THE CD DOES NOT WORK
I purchased this text for a French class but hadn't yet tried out the CD that goes with the text. As other people have said, the CD does not work and so I'm stuck with a CD that I can't use nor return.

It’s fine
Had to buy this with the matching work book for a class. Won’t be using it outside the classroom as there are better books available. Not a fan that every single word is in French as it means that for a complete beginner I have to google translate everything which is time consuming and (for me) not an effective method of learning. It also reminds me of the old fashioned textbooks we would use at school with the cringy photos - just look at the front cover! It includes 2 audio CDs which is good, but I (and everyone else in the class) had trouble installing one of them, and the code provided to download content doesn’t work. The actual contents of the book is fine, but pretty standard. Content could be presented in a much clearer way for comprehension and memorisation, like in CGP text books. There are plenty of exercises to go through and practise which is good. Would have liked some more content focusing on grammar.

A visually beautiful textbook
I had heard a lot of good things about the book before I bought it, and it didn`t disappoint me. I ordered it on Tuesday from the UK and yesterday only 2 days after I made the order, it arrived on my doorstep. I like that the book is so colourful and visually pleasing, it triggers my brain and I find that the vocabulary is easier to memorise. Although the entire book is in French I find that I can understand quite a lot, but my Italki teacher has helped me with some difficult expressions and words, which is why the only thing I don't like about Alter Ego A1 is that no English explanations are included NOT even in the glossary list, and neither does the book focus on grammar - at least very little. But if you're serious about learning French this is a good starting point and you can just supplement with additional learning resources ex.watch a lot of French tv-series, read some old French classics, get a tutor or a language partner.

Am using this with adult learners and although it has a lot of challenging language some of the audio is current and interesting enough to be used at a variety of levels. But definitely needs careful preparation and extra activties to help less confident learners.

Very good method for Beginners/A1
Very good method for Beginners/A1. Progressive approach which makes sense. Concise, to the point. Concepts are first introduced lightweight, in a limited but common use. Then again much later and deeper in later lessons. Nothing comes in too early. Recommended to all FLE teachers.
