Awesome little stone!
This product arrived the other day and I finally had a chance to use it. I was not disappointed. I've seen other reviews about it being too small, but it is exactly as described. It comes in a very nice leather pouch and is the perfect size to stick in your pocket, glove box, tool box or in a kitchen drawer. After putting a touch of honing oil on it, it's ready to go! puts a razor edge on whatever you need. I used it on 3 pocket knives and 4 knives from the kitchen, all turned out razor sharp, even the big kitchen knives!. it is a bit tough to sharpen the bigger knives because of its size but, if you take your time and keep the stone clean, it gets the job done!

Superb stones. Love them for sharpening stainless steel instruments.

Not as good as they used to be
I purchased several of Dans Whetstones in 2016 and they are awesome, first class stones. Cut perfectly with sharp edges at exactly 45 degrees ,all surfaces are perfectly flat and all corners come to a sharp point. I am using these older stones strictly for gunsmithing. Now in 2020 I purchased another (soft/medium) for knives and a hatchet while camping. I don't know if I got a bad one or the stones are now cut different but all the edges on it are beveled and corners are not squared. This is fine for blades or polishing flats for trigger jobs (like hammer / sear sides) but useless for certain smithing where you need that perfect 45 degree angle for things like smoothing and polishing hammer hooks. The sheath quality is also now lacking. Used to be a nice dark and supple leather. New sheaths are off white, thinner and feel like plastic. Even the stitching has been cheaped out. The stitching does not go far enough up the sides and the stone slips out easily. What are they trying to do , save a penny on thread for every 10 sheaths made? Dropping rating to 4 stars, it's still a good stone for the money, just not what they used to be. I wish the price went up and the quality remained the same. Remember to check out the bevels on the newer stone in the photo.

Good little stone. Put a nice edge on a few of my knives with it. Keep it lubed so it doesn't clog up and don't drop it on any hard surfaces like a garage floor and it should last for years.

Sharp!
I have had this for a year. It does the job. I keep it in my pocket. I use my knife a lot. If I need to sharpen it I pull it out of my pocket to hone my knife back up. I live the case not only for storage but I also use the leather case to strop my pocket knife.

Perfect pocket size. Works as described if you follow the included guidelines of using oil. (Water works just as well)

This is the second arkansas stone I baught this year, and the texture looks like it’s recycled dust epoxyed together, the material is arkansas stone but not the real deal. The picture is showing what you could get 2 years back for the same price, a 4" x 1 5/8" x 1/2" real stone. The add is accurate, I didn’t took care of the size because I taught it would be the same being a Dan’s, but just like the last I baught, a Smith’s, its composition look cheaper and it’s less than half the size, for the same price, i’m disappointed.
