100 Greatest Western Theme

City of Prague is great, I have a few albums of theirs, but the people they get for solo vocals miss the mark. Choir vocals are okay. This had Tiomkin's Gun Fight at the OK Corral. Frankie Lane did original vocals and he had done the GFOKC also with Erik Kunzel, so great, the guy who does this in this album just cannot compare, too bad. I had to down load and remove all the vocal selections they were just bad.

I've been buying more and more City of Prague collections and have not been disappointed yet. The sound quality is very good and as far as I can tell, the renditions of music can vary a bit, but it is tastefully done.

Having always been a fan of movie soundtracks I am always on the lookout fornew releases of the older soundtracks. My recent purchase of the 100 greatest western themes was a good choice. Most of the best soundtracks areWestern themes and this is the best collection I have ever found. The six CDset is of top quality and the music was recorded by top musicians.Who could ask for more?

Very enjoyable and excellent orchestration but too much filler material compared to the Magnificent Westerns.

It's every cowboy song you've ever heard and more. Beautiful music, great as a playlist for a western party.

you will notice no where on the box does it tell you who performs on these cd's. It says (soundtrack) in the ad. It's not soundtracks from the movies, it's the prague philharmonic doing their versions.the voices to raindrops keep falling on my head etc. sound nothing like the original.Don't be fooled by this ad.It seems curious to me you have to open the package to find out who performs. I am requesting a refund and suggesting this misleading ad be changed. Wish me luck.

Eine tolle Box mit den größten Westernthemen.Es handelt sich hier allerdings nicht um die Orginale aus den Filmen sondern um Einspielungen des Prager Philharmonic Orchester mit ausgezeichneten Gesangssolisten.Soweit ich es beurteilen kann sind alle Songs nahe am Orginal.Ich hatte vor Jahren schon mal eine Doppel-CD "Western-Themes-Folge 1", der damalige Preis lag bei 29 DM und war lange auf der Suche nach weiteren Folgen zum vernünftigen Preis.Diese 6 CD-Box ist praktisch ein Schnäppchen.Neben den besten Kinothemen sind auch die einige der bekanntesten Serientitel hier verteten wie Bonanza, High Chaperral oder Big Valley.Dem Argument hier käme kein Westernfelling auf kann ich nicht zustimmen. Die großen Westenfilm Soundtracks waren meisten an die klassische Musik angelehnt.Nur wer hier Countrymusik erwartet wird enttäuscht.

Das es keine Country Musik ist sollte jedem klar sein wenn man so namen wie Ennio Morricone liesst.Es ist zum teil Neu komponierte musik und keine Original Titel aber gerade das finde ich gut ich brauche auch mal Abwechslungund sie sind richtig gut gemacht mit moderneren Aufnahme Methoden und das hört man auch.Da bekommt man richtig lust das City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra mal zu besuchen.Ein Stern weniger gab es weil die Aufnahmen zum teil wirklich noch etwas besser sein könntenIch Höre mit der Cambridge Azur 851W / E / C Kette und den Heco New Statements also eine 10.000 Euro Anlage und es machtwirklich einen Heiden spass sich damit diese CD Sammlung anzuhören.

Das Non-Plus-Ultra der Western Filmhits. Natürlich keine Original Soundtracks was ja qualitativ gar nicht so toll wäre bei Aufnahmen aus den 30er und 40er. Super Sound und absolut fantastische Zusammenstellung, da fehlt wirklich nichts.
