Fantastic monitor for the price
This is my first ultrawide monitor. I've been using a 27" and a 22" dual setup for a while and my 27" just died so I needed a new one. I decided on this one after basically thinking about how cool gaming would be on it, and the price was good so I tried it; and I'm definitely going to be using an utrawide setup from now on. It looks so good next to my 24" monitor (the 29" ultrawide is actually just a little shorter than a 24" monitor) and it's light enough to use an arm mount on it, which I love. The picture is fantastic, however, when I first bought it, I was very disappointed in the picture. The blacks were awful, the whites were very yellow and the contrast was really bad. I went online and found some Reddit forums about this monitor and the color issues I as having with it, and found out that I just needed to adjust some setting. After the setting changes it looks sooooo good. I've never had an issue with my 22" HP monitor but after seeing the white and black levels with my new setting this monitor, my 22" is starting to look worse in comparison to this one. I'm definitely going to be replacing it and probably with another one of these monitors. I'm using it for gaming and movies, and it is so cool playing in ultrawide in games like Fallout 4 and ESO. 2d games will either stretch to the size of the monitor or leave black bars on the side to keep the 16:9 aspect. The black bars are most peoples biggest issue but it never really bothers me. Even better than the gaming is watching a movie, movies are awesome on this monitor. I watch so many movies and I'm still surprised at how many movies are set in 21:9 widescreen, which is this monitors aspect. Of course any movie that has a native aspect of 16:9 will also either get stretched or have black bars on the side. When it comes down to it, most movies are in widescreen but most, if not all TV shows are set in 16:9 so Netflix and Hulu shows will all have black bars on the sides. Luckily I have the 22" monitor to use for those shows but even with the black bars it's still totally watchable on this monitor. Overall, this is totally worth buying. I think I might go with the 34" and a 27" 16:9 next to it next time, but for now this is just an awesome monitor. Just remember to changes the settings. Play around with the brightness and contrast settings but first, change the gamma to 0. The gamma is set to 1 on default and it makes everything look yellow. After that it's a good idea to pick a good black stabilizer setting; I just kept adjusting it until I found a black level I liked. After that, its all about whatever you settings you think look best. I hope this helps. Thanks

Absolutely love this monitor
Absolutely love this monitor. Perfect size. Never going back to 16:9. Ultrawide is the way to go! Especially for productivity. I am able to put two word documents side by side and none of the pages feel squished. I sometimes use the feature where I have four pages up in each of the four corners. This monitor is a must for video editing. I have a much bigger workspace and it does not feel like everything is jammed together on the screen. Screen quality is very good. There is no screen bleeding when on black. The colors are awesome. I love that you can adjust a lot of things to have it exactly as you like it. Gaming is awesome with this too. While it is not 144hz, it still looks amazing. Most people can not even tell the difference anyways. My only issue with it is that there is a blinking light when I turn off my computer. It basically signifies a standby mode. Basically, the monitor turns on when the computer gets turned on, which is how I like it. So on to why it is an issue. My monitor is in my bedroom and it annoys me when I try to go to sleep. I covered it up with a piece of duct tape and its fine now. That really is not a complaint, I am just picky. Anyways, awesome monitor. Tons of usable work space. My girlfriend loves it too, which is annoying because she wants to use my computer every time she does homework and I am stuck with her laptop! It makes homework, task work, editing, etc so much easier. Some movies will have black bars at the edges, but I can live with that because when a movie goes full screen, it looks amazing! Highly recommend!

Near Perfect
But very close. For starters let me say that the screen size is just massive when you are coming up from an old 20.1in Viewsonic. To be able to literally multitask with this is a dream. Gaming is also much better of course. Freesync operates nicely and I can now switch off VSYNC in games for a fps boost. However, the problems..which aren't all that much really. But I want to subtract a star as to bring attention to those who may be looking at this monitor and dreaming. To start, I'd avoid getting it here. This thing arrived in a very massive box with just a tiny piece of paper for packing. So of course it was likely thrown about a lot inside. Thankfully LG packaged it properly and it wasn't damaged. But that is par for the course in my experience. Starting up the monitor I found something curious, the color temp and just the overall contrast and sharpness of the image on screen was a mess. Actually gave me a headache till I finally got it adjusted. The "Game Mode"s that preset the color, brightness, contrast/etc, are not all that good. In fact I finally played around in the monitor's menu and found a photo mode. After turning down the brightness a little I found this mode to be the best on the eyes and also gave the best clarity for text and images. The other modes produced either poor color recreation or the text just became rather hard on the eyes. Never had a monitor right out of the box be hard on the eyes for both light and text. Took a bit of tuning to resolve this. Thankfully my headache went away after I got this screen adjusted. Keep in mind, you may have to also tune the color temp in your GPU's control panel. I found I had to drop from a 6500K to a 5300K from my old Viewsonic to this. If I didn't, the images had too much blue in them. Documentation for doing a lot of this stuff is rather poor. In fact there really is none. You have to load the manual from the disk and it isn't the greatest. This was a lot more work than I've had to do with other monitors where you just messed with color temp, brightness, contrast, and done. To make matters worse, the monitor doesn't tell you all the settings for some of the modes so if you want to enable more game oriented settings with the photo mode, you can't. To have to fine tune both the monitor and the GPU so much was unexpected. I'm sure some users will not be happy with this and will likely return the monitor figuring it is broken from the start. Next the split screen feature actually isn't all that handy. It literally reconfigures the windows on the screen to fit what you want. So when you come out of it, you have to rearrange them all over again. I actually found it easier to just manually configure the windows in the arrangement I wanted. With the amount of space on this it is very easy to do. Unfortunately the issues with that mode don't end there. They actually crop up when loading some games as the monitor gets confused as to what mode it is in. I finally just turned off the monitor software and gave up on it. Gaming performance is rather nice even when not in an actual "game mode" on the monitor. I don't really notice any extra view range like some note but it certainly is a very gorgeous display. The question now comes down to, would I buy it again? My other option at the time was a 144Hz Viewsonic gaming monitor. To pick a 75Hz monitor over that was mostly because I have more uses than gaming for it and I needed the improvement in multitasking. As a multitask monitor this is fantastic. I don't have room for dual monitors but I have room for this and it handles just like if I had two monitors. As a gaming monitor, will I miss 144Hz? Frankly not really. I don't have a standard for that as I've never spent a lot of time with 144Hz monitors. Is this better than my 11yr old Viewsonic 20in? Of course. So when it comes to buying it again, after taking into account the extra work to set it up, sure. But at full price I'd hesitate and look at other monitors. I jumped because this was on a 199 deal and at that price point it was a steal (I had been watching these ultrawides for some months so I knew how low they had been going), but at full 299+, I think I'd probably hold off. Maybe check competitors more. I have no history with LG panels so if this holds up as good as my old one, don't know. Viewsonic had always been alright to deal with when it came to repairs/etc. Guess I'll find out. Great multitask monitor, great gaming monitor, not so great initial setup and tuning. Remember that if you start getting a headache on set up.
