XCP Rust Blocker CLEAR COAT - High Performance Rust Protection Spray 400ml Aerosol Can

This is a great product and so easy to use on comparison to other products I have used on my motorcycle. It is expensive, but half a can easily covers a large motorcycle, so is a bargain as it should last a whole winter.As a aerosol it goes on easily and leaves a pleasant sheen as if the machine has been polished. It also dries to a solid covering and it not sticky like other products which attracts road dirt. Thus far very impressed. It is doing the job and gives me confidence to use my bike during the winter months.

Bought this to protect from rust the underside of a vehicle parts not sealed by the manufacturers, subframe etc. I bought two cans for a small car, but it goes a long way and covers easily, only used about half a can. Applied it about two weeks ago but have driven through some very heavy rain and deep standing water. On inspection the film has remained as if only just applied.

I produce metal ornaments for outdoor use. The rust protect is perfect for my use.

+ves: Being a clear coat it doesn’t detract from the background colour of where it’s sprayed. Ideally, spray and wipe to give an evenly thin, covering. Use with the flexible lance, available separately, for good coverage in hidden areas to keep the rust a bay as much as possible - this saves stripping the motorbike down!-ves: Still seems to attract the dust and grit in areas where it’s on too thick

Motorcycle maintenance, if bike kept outside is excellent for protecting metal parts from the elements, lots of other products online failed ,this IS the best

I bought this because it was highly rated for rust prevention when tested against other products. I was looking for something to prevent rust on my motorbike. I haven't used this long enough to say if this is true in my own experience - I can only assume and trust that those that have tested this long term are correct. My experience with XCP clear coat is that it is very easy to apply - it sprays out in a very fine mist from the aerosol can and so it's very easy to get good coverage.In use, however, after a couple of trips my motorbike was covered in fine grit/road dirt that seemed to stick to many parts of the bike. Dirt had accumulated in places where I had never noticed dirt/grime before. I then found it very tricky to remove without causing small scratches as the product was holding on to the grit/fine gravel. I have since switched to another product.Perhaps this is a case of user error - maybe I applied it incorrectly even though I followed the instructions. Lots of people rave about this product and I am sure it is as good at preventing rust as some say. But for on balance with lots of other considerations I won't be using it as a general rust prevention spray on my motorbike.For me, the additional expense of this product doesn't represent value for money. Other reviewers justify the additional cost because of this products proven longevity. However, in those test steel plates or bare metal are sprayed with a salt solution and rinsed periodically with water. One test I watched the tester admitted that once the metal plate was washed with soap and water it's rust prevention ability declined and recommended reapplication after washing. If you need to reapply this after washing your bike with soap and water then in my opinion you're better off going for a cheaper spray, which whilst not as effective at rust prevention, at least represent a more cost effective option on balance.
