A rugged outsole designed specifically for the trail will keep feet stable and secure on long, outdoor runs. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

A really good trail running shoe
I have been a trail runner for a few years now and have run in a number of different shoes. I used the Trabucos for some time and while I liked them their 60/40 trail/ road all round purpose meant that they weren't always great with grip, especially when things got wet! My last 2 pair were Adidas Trail Response which were really light and super grippy. The only problem was that they wore pretty quick. So when I saw the GT's I was really nervous as they looked even less aggressive than the Trabucos but they were a great price and in my size - US 15 so I grabbed them. The shoes are great. They are responsive and stiff through the sole and the grip is remarkably good even when things get a bit wet. The thing I'm most impressed about though is that they just get on and do the job and are really comfy. The toe box is snug but not tight and the outer material breathes well and rinses mud easily. The Se shoes are worth a try and are seriously good value.

Snugger than the GT-2000 2 Road Shoe, but performs well
I'm a new runner (about 8 months) training for my first half marathon in five weeks. I purchased these after putting about 200 miles on the road shoe version and really liking them. I was looking for basically what I had, plus a bit more grip and stability over uneven/wet/loose surfaces on the trails in along the Wissahickon in Fairmount Park, where I like to run on the weekend and my road shoes seemed a little lacking. My initial reaction was that they felt very snug (perhaps too much so) in comparison to my road shoes, which are the same size (11.5). While I'm sure that this is due in part to my road shoes being well broken in, it certainly didn't account for all of it. I think what I'm feeling is that the build of the trail version is deliberately more snug and supportive in the upper. I knocked around whether they might be too tight but decided after putting these and my road shoes on and off a couple times that there was enough room in the toe box and that the fit was probably right.Went for a 4.5 mile run yesterday in the rain over some challenging terrain and these performed very well and felt good. I'll update this if anything changes, but I think I'll like these as much as my road ones, especially after they've broken in a little.

Another Great Pair of Asics
Another fine pair of Asics. No surprises with these shoes. I have been wearing Asics for as long as I can remember, and it's nice to be able to buy them online and know exactly what I'm getting. This particular model is very comfortable for the casual wearer. They were a bit stiff righto out of the box, but they have loosened up nicely. I don't work out with them, I just wear them because they feel light on my feet and they fit me well. The colors come off much brighter than they may look on your computer, but again, that wasn't an issue for me. Overall, very nice shoes.

Perfect right out of the box
I've been trail/mountain running, nearly every weekend for 5+ years in L.A. at Griffith Park, the Verdugo Mountains and Angeles National Forest. Prior to purchasing these shoes, I've been wearing my Asics Nimbus (I also do distance running and have run the last 4 LA Marathons and regularly run half marathons). I finally decided after years of shredding my regular running shoes, to see what Asics had to offer in a trail running shoe and I was not disappointed. So far (first 7 miles last weekend), these have been great right out of the box, with no uncomfortable breaking in phase, which surprised me. Shoes are comfortable, true to size and protect very well from harsh slamming associated with the downhill portion of my running. For me, these seem to be a perfect addition to my running and I can see these as my new go to shoe when it comes to trail running.

Great Shoe, Great Price
I had stopped buying Asics after they discontinued the 2100 series, as I wasn't happy with the first iteration of the 2000 series. However, with the 2000 2 trail shoe, they've hit a home run. The fit is perfect, the cushioning is better than many other shoes, and the pronation control is good. After walking in these for a month or so, I thought I'd try on the Saucony Guide 7 and the Mizuno Wave Inspire 10. The Guide 7 was ok, not great. As a previous total fan of the Wave Inspire 8 and 9, I had high hopes for the 10, but it was a disappointment. The toe box was too large, to the point where I felt my feet were swimming in it, and the quality just didn't seem as good. So I passed on those and ordered a second pair of the Asics. With my custom orthotics and Puma cushioned socks, my feet are in heaven.

better than expected
I am in Afghanistan currently and have experienced multiple terrains to PT on. I have terrible foot pain due to a bone spur on the back of my heel. As soon as I started wearing these the padding has alleviated some of the pain from the pounding and the shoes work great on rocky or smooth terrain to run or walk in. They also handle fine on tread mills. I really like these shoes and would buy another pair.
