I’m new to this, how will I be able to hear what I’m creating, I need external speakers?

Yes you will need some sort of external amplifier and speakers(recommended) or headphones. The Cre8audio case will reduce the voltage from modular(+/-10v) to line level so you don't need an additional output module. They have introduced a couple of new very reasonably priced modules Captain Big O a very interesting oscillator(with a wave folder) and Mr. Philter which is a money saving filter/envelope generator/VCA combo. Have fun, Noise is the future.

Does this come with patch cables?

If you buy the one that includes the two modules, yes, it comes with 6 patch cables. You should consider buy more patch cables in order to maximize the use of these two modules and future additions.
