Fenix simply makes great flashlights
Bought this for my girlfriend to do double duty as a flashlight and a bicycle headlight (using a handlebar clamp). As a flashlight, the LD22 is very bright for its size (beating most much larger flashlights), lightweight, reasonably waterproof, and has good battery life. The use of AA batteries is great for those people that have already invested in AA rechargeable batteries. In our case we use Sanyo Eneloop batteries since they are low self discharge (they don't die on their own very quickly sitting on a shelf). As a bicycle headlight the jury is still out since we haven't used it yet. The beam may be a bit narrow for that, but given its adequate spill it should be sufficient. Since purchasing my first Fenix flashlight back in 2008, I have almost exclusively purchased Fenix lights. They're extremely well made and extremely bright. Thus far those purchases include this LD22, an L2D (essentially an older model of this light), the LD41 (uses four batteries and is brighter), a TK41 for my parents (eight AA's and even brighter), and a handful of E01's for emergency kits. None of them have ever let me down.

Well designed great quality build on an insanely bright flashlight.
This is the first tactical flashlight I've owned, and the usability, brightness and build quality are awesome. I like the tail button on/off switch, which remembers the previous setting. The front button, which switches between modes, is a little bit hard to find, even with the light turned on, but it's not as critical to be able to find it in complete darkness like the on/off switch is, so I think this design approach is best. I can always grab the light and turn it on in an instant, and if I fumble around for a second adjusting the brightness or activating the strobe, it's okay. I'm not a paramilitary type who will use this for attacking bunkers; I'm just a nerd who likes camping and backpacking with reliable gear. I previously owned one of the Streamlight flashlights, which I unfortunately lost, and when I started shopping for a replacement my research led me to this one. I think it would be unfair to compare the two, since this light is in a different class than the Streamlight I owned, and costs more than twice as much. But I'm very happy so far with my purchase.

pictured is wrong product
The item that is pictured is what I originally had and lost on a construction site. I hoped to buy a new one just like it since it was a great product. What I received the new one it is a newer model non-tactical LD22. Please fix the picture so no one else has to waist their time having to return it.

This light left me not wanting to even look into other lights. 100% satisfied.
I have had this flashlight now for about a yea now, maybe longer. This is one of those items that has become a staple part of my life without question. I use this ALL the time. I originally just wanted something for random needs but it has turned into one of those items you start to incorporate into your daily routine. I use this mostly for: 1) Navigating the house on the "low setting" at night. My wife goes to bed before me nearly every night and I always use this to enter the bedroom and get situated as well as walk around the house and set the alarm, grab waters and so on... 2) Take the dogs out at night. ALL the time I use this for the dogs...I take them out before bed and sometimes during the night. The low setting and second to low setting is perfect for this, so I am not freaking out the neighbors. 3) Working in my garage at night... I work on my quads, dune toys, and lately my '58 Bug. This light has been instrumental for me when doing this. I keep it handy in my pocket (the clip it has works great) or in my slot in my 5.11 pants (the Black ones I have turned into shop pants as they collect tons of lint when used normally...). Regular shop lights are great for general illumination, but this flashlight is awesome for pinpoint illumination...and a low profile for tight spots. 4) Bumps in the night. I have gotten up a few times for this but thankfully nothing dramatic came from it...but its a good resource. The "bright setting" is bright enough to stun and its a great addition to your pistol for zombie sweeps. I actually bought one for my father-in-law as well, since I thought it was so awesome.

My first Fenix
Im not a flashlight connoisseur, so my review will be basic. 4 stars because as expensive as this light is, they dropped the ball on the pouch. First off this is the best AA flashlight I have owned, I thought it would be too long and funky, but it has a good feel to it, and a nice compact profile. The batteries fit nice and snug, so when you shake it around they stay secure and do not rattle. This thing gets super bright, but no lens focusing kinda bummed about that. Overall its a great light, and AA batteries are readily available which is why I got this. Now onto the pouch. Its very cheaply made, I was hoping for a more rugged nylon material. I mean this light is spendy, give me a good case to protect this light. If they didnt include the pouch I would give them 5 stars, but I cant get over the fact that this flimsy case its gonna protect my 50 dollar flashlight. Now I gotta spend money on a better pouch.

Powerful light in a small package, Must buy for late night work.
Awesome flashlight for late night work. Double AA batteries last long and light is really Bright, not to mention much cheaper then if you bought it at your local store. Heavy duty body frame and really compact like the size of a marker (fits right in your pocket) This one I bought for a buddy of Mine at work, the one I have stopped working after a year of non stop use, so I contacted fenix directly and they informed me that it had a lifetime warranty so I shipped it back to fenix and they fixed it for free took 3-4 weeks but hey it was free. Great customer service and great product.

Did not last
I thought this was a fairly good light, right up until it quit. It is sturdy and compact , and is quite bright. The controls for the multi-modes were a bit clumsy; it was awkward at times to turn on the light at night and get the strobe effect. For this kind of money I would hope it stood up to more than 18 months of easy usage, but it suddenly failed for no discernible reason.

Dang thing won't light!
Carefully read many reviews and settled on the Fenix LD22 G2. Anxiously awaited delivery. Thrilled when it arrived…a real beauty. Put fresh batteries in and the dang thing wouldn't light. Tried it again with two more fresh batteries and nothing. Double checked position of batteries, etc. but nothing. Very disappointed. How can one trust a light down the road if it doesn't work right out of the box. Poor quality control, I guess, because I saw at least two other comments with similar complaints. Amazon made it very simple to return and gave me a quick refund, but even if I wanted to try again, the price has now gone up $5.
