I wanted to get through an entire season before I posted. I used this to start 2 Rapunzel Tomato plants for my garden, and couldn't be happier with the result. I did not get a discount for this review! This is my first time growing from seed, and I am NEVER going back. I am planning on growing exclusively from seed for the spring, so I'll need to beef up and get another bulb or 2. I did find it hard to find a lamp that would work for a bulb of this diameter, but I found one that worked. I have ordered the recommended lamp today and hope it will improve my set up.I started from seed WITHOUT a light and found they were spotty to take and didn't transplant well. I assumed it was my novice skill, but honestly I think it was the lack of the grow light. Since I have started seeds using this light, I've been successful with every single seed. No more wasted money on seeds that don't germinate!I'm honestly astonished at the hardiness of the plants once they leave the grow lamp. Several store-bought plants were diseased halfway through the season, while my Rapunzels are thriving! Thank you for such an amazing product. I am very pleased with this grow light. I live in an apartment complex that does not allow any plants outside, there are no balconies or patios. I missed growing plants! Our windows face Northwest and doesn't end up getting much sun until the latter portion of the day and I wanted to find something to supplement some of the missing sunlight that plants clearly require.The light arrived and within days of using it, some of my seeds sprouted! The light itself is really an awesome bulb. It screws in to any normal light bulb fixture and does not get hot. This is a really great benefit, in my opinion, because lights like this need to be left on for a good number of hours in order to provide the growing benefits that it's supposed to have. There's much less worry involved when the light doesn't get hot. It gives off what ends up being a sort of purple-ish light and let's face it, it just looks cool!It appears that it runs between $15-$20 on Amazon, depending on whatever day you end up looking at this product. I think that it's well worth the cost both for longevity and effectiveness. It's helping me grow some plants that I didn't think I would be able to grow indoors and I could not be more pleased with it!

Affordable. Works. Silent. Bright. Very Very little heat.I bought this for my indoor plants, no huge home setup, I just love my aloe and succulents and didn't want them starving in the winter here in Seattle (Or summer, lets be honest, the sun forgets to shine here sometimes). This guy fit into the silver lamp with a clip here on amazon that I got for about $7, and it won't fit in your regular desk lamps only because of it's diameter at the top of the bulb, there is nothing weird about the base that screws in. My cacti loved this, and they definitely grew. I stopped using this bulb only because 1. my dad was convinced the neighbors thought we were growing weed* and 2. he was also convinced this bulb gives off some UV, and Im not sure if it does or not. Either way we moved my plants to a large white broad spectrum light and they did just as well under that one. Give it a go!*I'd like to point out that cannabis is a huge bush that gets 8 feet tall, and nobody can grow it in a window for long. Let's stop the misconceptions.

I've been using two of these bulbs now. The first one I bought a month ago and was so impressed I bought a second to start seeds for my wildflower garden and arborvitae cuttings. I'm impressed with how fast the roots start growing on anything I'd plant with these bulbs. I absolutely hated these bulbs when I first got them because the magenta color they emitted was killing my eyes. Everything under the lights had a strange colorless appearance`and lacked any green. It was like wearing 3d glasses while inspecting my plants. The lamps also startle my birds so I had to move my growing station in to my bedroom. Now my bedroom looks like a shrine to Prince with its eerie purplish glow. (RIP Prince) I must have gotten used to the color because they no longer bother me. I like to buy clearance plants at the local garden center and keep them under these lights so they perk up before I plant them outside. Within a few days all the clearance plants look noticeably better, almost new. It's a great way to start a garden on the cheap. I have them on for over 12 hours a day and there is hardly any heat coming from them at all. Great product, highly recommend.
