Just the tip? I'd give Jeff the whole thing.
As a member of the "Hunkassaurus Rex crew" (or as some others more eloquently, yet somewhat less excitingly call us: The Male Sex Club), you'd be forgiven to think I'd be more interested in swooping in a female companion, stripping her down and spraying (easy tiger!) light all over her next to the nearest north face window. However, over the last year or so I'd subconsciously found myself with a portfolio biased far more toward Hunkn'ass than Boobn'ass... Here's why...It hadn't even dawned on me that every single class I'd studied had been with a focus on a female model, I'd been so detached from the gender and focused far more on the lighting, composition, post processing etc that when it finally became time to get work I'd realised that I found my knowledge of posing was all for women.I found posing women difficult, uncomfortable and somewhat awkward due to my own lack of knowledge on the subject and also a somewhat lack of desire to do what was already being done by those around me. That's when I got booked to shoot a male model in London and decided to make a mad dash for the closest thing I could find on male modelling, posing, composition and post processing, Jeff Rojas's work on CreativeLive and now, this wonderful book.I ordered the digital version of the book so that I could get it on time for the shoot, though due to an unfortunate error in the conversion I actually ended up missing the book and had to do the shoot blindly (without the book's knowledge). You know what? It went great, I felt far more comfortable working with male models than I did females though a few things still needed work... I wasn't sure of how to TRULY understand how to make someone look and feel their best, I just felt I was getting close when it came to working with male models.Jeff's book finally came through and I sat down with a cup of tea to start reading. I'm a little over half way through and already have to go back to the start and refresh, the amount of information Jeff throws at you is truly unbelievable. He mentions things I'd have never even thought about consciously and perhaps even ever.Do you have any idea how to light or dodge and burn a heart shaped face to make it look it's best? What about faces that are Oblong? Square? Circular? Triangle? No me either... until now that is!What about dealing with baldness? Larger faces? Beards? Lean men? Bigger men? Short men? Tall men? How to make sure a suit is fitting correctly? What position of the head says about emotion? How to place a hand across a stomach that says "Vulnerable" and not "I'm hungry"?I'm only half way through and all of these questions have not only been answered thoroughly but they've been so awesomely answered that I feel as though I could hold a mini masterclass on the subject tomorrow!Make absolutely no mistake here. Not only is Jeff a guy with an incredible fetish for triangles and men, but he also REALLY knows his stuff and openly shares it with you in treasure chest loads (that's not a euphemism).I know for a fact that my photography has improved dramatically because of this book and the knowledge contained within. Pick it up, absorb it and get ahead of the market for photographing the new generation of men. Just, do it.

Excellent How-To Photo Book...
This is a solid, concise, and well written how-to book full of excellent photography and shot diagrams. Jeff lays it all out in easy to read language that allows you to reproduce the techniques, set up and shoot your own shots, and then finish them with his tips for post-processing. This is one of the best instructional photo books currently available and the only one I know of that deals specifically with posing and shooting men. Highly recommended if you're a people photographer plus it's a good bang for the buck.

Finally, Someone Wrote a Book on Men Photography
This book is not for beginners, to begin with. You must already have knowledge of portrait photography, lighting (studio) and differences among men, women, and child photography for you to appreciate this book. For example, masculine photography requires harsher lighting or more contrast which the book tackles in the first few pages. The book is divided into sections where men are photographed in different environment situations. There are modeling section, eyewear section, refined men section, muscle magazine section, etc. This is not a technical book where you can see photos captioned with camera settings and flash or strobe strength and speeds. It gives description how to achieve such look and feel for the topic is it is presenting. I rated it 4 stars because this is a small book and the fonts are also small. Otherwise, this book is very informative and educational.

Excellent Book on Men's Portraiture
Jeff Rojas' Photographing Men is an excellent, thorough guide to create effective, powerful portraits of men in different settings. Rojas gets down to business straight away in a manner that provides essential subjects involved with portraiture, such as, identifying face shapes and considerations in using complimentary lighting to bring out the best across a wide variety of subjects. I also own his book, Photographing Women, written in a similar manner that is as effective as Photographing Men.I highly recommend purchasing both of these books as a most useful guide to excellent portraiture.

Photographing the male specimen
This book is amazing, to say the least. Filled with page after page of useful information and very deep, fulfilling, and tantalizing information of photographing the male specimen. You'd be hard pressed to find a page not showing how to perfectly sculpt the male physique into positions you hadn't thought possible, photographically that is. If you've had men in your studio that have left unfulfilled and lacking confidence, then this book will put you on the fast track to making every man that steps in front of your lens appearing more confident, and maybe even more desirable, for their next job.

I've been following Jeff's work for some time now. I'm inspired by his simplicity yet great attention to small details. As soon as I opened this book i wasn't surprised how easy it reads, and how descriptive it is. It's the best photography book I've ever purchased!!! Strongly recommended to anyone who would like to to learn simple and effective technics.

Covers everything you want to know about getting your subject to shine
Wonderful book. Topics covered as well as depth. Use of images and even additional references make this a great book to learn and put in practice portrait photography, in this specific case with great advice for male subjects specifically.

Good info. Holistic approach to portrait work from preplaning to posing to post processing. If this poor bastard would just stop tripping over himself for having male genetalia and being a feminist, it would be way more readable. Great info. Great tips. Extremely insecure author that shouldn't be.
