My four-year-old son loves the stories and asks me to read it over and over again. However, given that the books are very thin and binding is not of good quality, I would say the whole set is rather quite expensive. Content-wise, very good. Price-wise, a rip-off. Both my sons learnt to read using the ORT scheme and now my four year old daughter is enjoying the series. Each stage comes with a core set and then there are 'extra' books to reinforce the new words and sounds. As well as more storybooks, there are non fiction titles (fireflies), and other story books, such as the songbird series and Floppy's phonics. Once your child moves on to a certain level, it is a great idea to allow them to read as many books aimed at the same reading level as possible, to give them practice and confidence, before they move on. All my children enjoyed the adventures of Chip, Biff and Kipper, and these are well written stories, which your children will enjoy reading as well as benefit from.
