This set is unique in that it comes with 2 inks (many manufacturers remove the actual ink and only provide an empty bottle in order to save shipping costs). The nibs that come with it are not the same quality as the 1 detailed nib, but they are all usable. That said, these are budget nibs and the pen is only meant for occasional use or decoration. Using this is a daily scribe for calligraphy may prove uncomfortable and shorten the life of the quill (the feather is only barely attached into a wood base in the end of the barrel's body). My kit arrived largely undamaged and beautifully packed (the ribbon is a nice touch!), however; the very tip of the silver pheasant feather is torn. This is par for the course for something in this price range (under $50), so don't be surprised if your silver pheasant feather also has imperfections or small tears. This is NOT a museum quality replica! Still, it gets the job done and looks the part. I bought this for occasional letter writing (on tea stained Indian cloth parchment paper) to my sweetheart.

Purchased as a gift for my teen daughter. Beautiful box and she was very excited that the feather looks like one from Harry Potter's owl. She says they write very well, and was happy this set does come with the ink in the bottle.

My daughters best friend moved out of state. Both of them are avid Harry Potter fans. She's currently on book five. She asked for a quill so she can write her friend letters. After looking through multiple options we decided to go with the GC quill set. This is great set, it comes with everything you would need including a candle. She's written 3 letters so far. This set is lovely with many nibs to choose from. The yellow ink is a bit light and the nibs aren’t greatly varied but it is good fun for my 8yo daughter to write her recipies and spells and secrets.
