In Blue - Enhanced

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE CORRS - IN BLUE on DVD Audio. I still can not understand why this band did not have more number one's and sell many more albums. The Corrs are one of the best easy rock bands to ever record music. The music is genius and the voices are top quality. This particular album has 3 formats for you. One of them will play in your DVD player. The three versions include... 1 Advanced resolution 96 khz/24 bit discrete 6 channel Surround 2 Advanced Resolution Stereo 3 Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. Here is the truth about these 3 systems. The first one in the list is 96 khz/24 bit with 6 discrete channels. 6 discrete channels is the same as 5.1. 5.1 is actually 6 separate channels of data. The term "Advanced Resolution" only means it is better than a standard CD quality. It was a gimmick to sell new players to the consumer. But then DVD Video 5.1 uncompressed audio tracks replaced it. The second.. Advance resolution stereo means it is a wider frequency response 2 channel stereo version. The last is the typical Dolby Digital 5.1 surround that we have all become familiar with on DVD's and BluRay movie discs. The fact is, Dolby Digital is also 96 khz/24 bit just like the DVD Audio. And they are both uncompressed tracks. With little to no video on the disc, it leaves a whole lot more digital space for uncompressed DD or DTS 5.1 Surround tracks that sound supreme. So the DVD Audio and the DVD Video versions are exactly the same. There is no advantage in playing the DVD Audio track over the DVD Video 5.1 Surround tracks. The actual quality of DVD Audio is equal to the DVD Video 5.1 Surround tracks. If you hear any difference between them, then for some stupid reason, it is how the manufacturer of your player designed it to play. Otherwise on most good DVD/BD players, this disc will play as a DVD Video with the same high quality as the DVD Audio tracks. I am so impressed with this album played on a DVD Video player. All 5 channels and the .1 subwoofer channel are well used with lots of good separation of voices and instruments. The audio quality is very clean and crisp with deep smooth clean thumping bass on all tracks. If you are a Corrs fan, buy this album. You will not be disappointed in any way. I still do not understand why all recording studios do not release all of their music on a 2 layered disc. Layer one for the 2 channel CD, and layer 2 for the DVD Video 5.1 surround mix. This technology has been used for years and every DVD player will play it perfectly. Come on studios. What are you waiting for? We all have the players, just sell us the dual format discs.

Great album... the Corrs are one of the finest groups out there, and it's really a shame they are not as huge in the US as they are in the rest of the world. I'm not going to review this album because you can read them in the regular CD versions, but I do want to point out some features on this DVD AUDIO version that the description doesn't cover. First off, this DVD AUDIO has three audio versions you can play it in: 1) Advanced resolution 24-bit/96 KHz discreet 6 channel Surround Sound, 2) Advanced Resolution Stereo, and 3)Dolby Digital Surround Sound. HOWEVER, you can only access the first two options with a DVD AUDIO compatible player. If your DVD player only has a DVD VIDEO logo, use can't utilize the Advanced resolution options. Second, it contains the music video for Breathless, which is great. It's not real obvious how to find it on the disc if you're playing in DVD VIDEO mode, but to access it you need to go Chapter 2 Track 1. Lastly, it contains a photo gallery, lyrics, discography, and song commentary which are only accesible through the DVD AUDIO. If you have DVD AUDIO, I highly recommend this album!

Ok this review here is actually for the 18 track US version - I was looking for this CD for ages mainly because i wanted the extra tracks all on 1 cd - This version has the regular 15 track CD album plus 3 bonus tracks -Head In The Air and Judy(These were only available together on the Breathless CD single) plus What Can I Do -Acoustic Version from Virgin Radio UK- The album itself as a whole is not their best - i think they were trying to sound too American and move away from their Irish roots - I love Breathless though and Mutt Langes production was great on this track - The other standout songs for me were - All In A Day, Say, Radio, No More Cry, Give It All Up, Hurt Before and the gorgeous Somebody For Someone - the bonus tracks are also nice additions to the CD so if you want the complete album you should pick up this 18 track version- i couldnt play the bonus CD rom content though so i can't say whats on there

its ok, i'm not a big fan of the corrs, i'm a big fan of dvd-audio, i bouthg this dvd-audio version and it's good, very clear and everything, it's not too much my type of music, but I know they're great musicians, if you are a fan of the corrs and you have access to a dvd-audio system, get it!

This cd is awesome, it is one of those that you can play over and over again wihout getting tired of it, The Corrs have talent and they are really good artists with very great voices, they are one of my favorite bands of all time. I highly recommend this cd to anyone thats looking for some good feel music to listen to, you won't be disappointed. I give this one and their other albums A++++++!!!!!!! I have alots of favorites on this cd especially Breathless. The Corrs rock!!!!!!

This album is one of the most pop-ish sounding offerings from the Corrs. It is danceable and catchy (Breathless, Irresistible, Radio, Rebel Heart) and contemplative (Give Me a Reason, One Night, Hurt Before). When I listen to music I mainly want to be feeling good. The slower and more melancholic tunes are needed to balance out the effect, so to speak. This album does all that I want perfectly. There are some more memorable Corrs songs on other albums, but this one has the most danceable songs. Sometimes I need to bop my shoulders a bit.

Very good cd the only problem there are about 3 or 4 songs that we don't for that much but that's with most cd you now days but we like most of the songs

I enjoy listening to this group, after finding them on line. This is for my enjoyment when I'm driving, and to let other people to hear.

Like other listeners I was mildly disappointed with this album when I first heard it. Then I played it, and played it, and played it... It is possibly the best thing The Corrs have done. The songs weave their way into your mind and don't let you go. Contrary to some reviews I have read, I don't believe this is an over-produced album. The songs are certainly produced well, and there are a few AOR gimmicks courtesy of Mutt Lange and Mitchell Froom, but these actually add to the songs. This is a very accomplished album from a band who have paid their dues and are now an assured, world-class act. They have totally dispelled many peoples' illusions of them as a rather parochial, jig and reel band, and if any band is on its way to scale the heights of Fleetwood Mac and other stadium fillers, then The Corrs are certainly it. Well done and thanks for the album, Jim, Andrea, Sharon and Caroline.

Es un CD magnífico, para los años que tiene. Para mi gusto, uno de sus mejores trabajos. Muy recomendable su compra.
