MaresAvanti Superchannel FF Fins

I go on dive trips a couple of times a year. I wanted a set of fins that would fit in my carry on. I never check a bag. These are perfect. They are 25.6 inches long 8 inches wide and fit diagonally in my carry on. The flexibility of the tips do help them fit nicely. My carry on is an inch smaller than the maximum size carry on. I got the 9.5-10.5 (44-45) size. I usually wear 10.5 E width shoes. They fit good and the soft rubber is so comfortable. I do believe I could wear a 2mm booty with them. I think the stated size should be 10-11. I'm sure an size 11 wide foot will fit comfortably in these. I think a 9.5 narrow foot should order a size smaller. Are they flexible? Yes a little more so than the average fin, that's what Mares Superchannel fins are all about. Mares studied the manta ray's swimming technique and flex and tried to mimic it. Stiffer longer fins usually have more power and speed...and tire out your legs quicker. These fins didn't tire my legs out like the stiffer ones, I didn't notice any decrease in speed and power and they were easier to maneuver. They are exactly the same size fins as my 20 year old size 8-9 FP Blades. The old ones don't fit anymore and were never as comfortable as my new Superchannels. I tried my new fins out on a 2 tank dive in Cozumel. Picture shows the flexability, tip gathered in one hand and flexed 90 degrees toward the camera. I have strong hands and it was not easy to hold for the shot. That might give you some idea of the flexibility and how easy they are to pack. I don't think they are too flexible and I am very happy with my purchase.

Excellent fins. Used them for the first time in Hawaii. Very powerful and work against strong tides. Order the next size down as the run big.

Excellent for diving down 10 to 50 feet, or getting from one location to another. (I covered a mile in medium current in 90 minutes.) Smaller fins require too much leg strokes and while often recommended by stores are useless.

i love these fins! i own 10 pairs of fins of all shapes and sizes, and these are my favorite. I swim 1-2 miles a day in the open ocean, and I find myself using these fins more than any others. super lightweight, very efficient, extremely comfortable. they flex a lot so they are not as powerful as a stiffer/heavier fin, but they are so efficient and just the right buoyancy for surface swimming, that I can go faster over a mile with these than with my cressi gara freediver fins, atomic scuba fins, or even my force fins. another good fin for long distance surface swimming is the vortex v6 split fins, which are also very efficient and comfortable. but these superchannels are lighter and more versatile (e.g. they work better with a dolphin kick and are slightly better against a current).

The fins fit me true to size and are very comfortable. Used them multiple times already without any pain/rash/burn I had from other fins. No cramps with these either as they allow me to cruise long easily while diving. Highly recommend them.
