American Standard 5020A65G.020, White

Bought this to replace a less expensive one I bought 5 months ago. Both my wife and I were getting sciatic pains and isolated them to when we replaced our seats. These seats are 1/2 inch wider and it seems to make a big difference. The soft closing seat and top take some getting used to and to remember when you are in a place without the soft closure not to drop the top --Very nice looking on both the Kohler and American Standard. Colors match well for beige and white, at least as well as can be expected for a toilet.

WOW! The price is 50% more than similar typically priced seats but I have to say it far exceeded my expectations in every way and then some. There is absolutely no comparing this seat to any that I have ever encountered. The quality is akin to a high end luxury car compared to an entry level sedan. It clearly is that much better! I have never seen a plastic toilet seat with such an amazing finish. I have worked in industry having extensive knowledge of injection molded plastic parts and I have never seen anything that comes close to the fit and finish of this seat. I honestly have no idea how they achieved such a finish. It is solidly built, has an amazingly ingenious top mount option with both sides connected to completely eliminate shifting, and is every bit 50% thicker plastic. It also has quick release buttons for super easy cleaning. It's just amazing especially since I never give reviews on anything but this product is so far above my expectations I had to speak up. I even included a few shots for you. It is hard to show but the quality difference is absolutely worth every penney extra I paid and a whole lot more.

We had an American Standard toilet with a soft close lid. The top lid spring failed allowing it to crash down in the night when the wife was using it. Once you have a soft close toilet lid, crashing lids at other locations are common for us. The wife said fix this! I looked an several different seats and finally chose this unit. The first thing I noticed is it is constructed from thicker material that the lid I replaced. I didn't check the weight of the seat against other lids but I recommend doing so to estimate how much material is in the product. Others said it was over priced but I don't think it is. As a novice, I was very confusted on top or bottom mounted seats. After a few youtubes I figured out the top mount is designed for those toilets that do not have bolts that are accessable from the side or bottom of the bowl. This unit comes with the mounts for either top or bottom mount. Since the current toilet is open on the sides, the bolts are easily accessable and I chose bottom mount. It installs quickly but it isn't clear what the rubber washer is to be on the bolt. I put it between the nut and the plastic washer. I assumed that that would provide resistance to the nut unloosing. We'll see if I'm right.
