Holds the Ball micrometer very steady.

This micrometer vise is an excellent value for what you get, BUT two things need improvement. It works very nicely to hold a micrometer so does what it should do.First, there are NO rubber feet on the vise so you need to supply your own. Without them, the vise will slide all over a smooth surface like a tabletop. Probably 2-3 cents worth of rubber feet (needs 3) would have gotten this closer to 5-Stars.Secondly, the packaging is terrible. This is a heavy cast iron base with a thin plastic bag over it. Absolutely NO packing material inside what was left of the shipping carton. It arrived with one end of the carton torn wide open. Pure luck that it arrived in one piece or at all. Again, a few cents for some bubble wrap would be a major improvement.

Heavy seems to be well built. Haven't had a chance to use yet.

Needs some nonstick feet as they are just painted metal. I’ll make some but I wish they just stuck some on.

This will be like an extra hand only better.
