Amazingly delicious results! Fantastic alternative to outdoor grilling!
I am shocked! This little beauty has done an admiral job grilling up any thing we have thrown at it. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find the optimal indoor grill to fit out needs. Ultimately, I wanted to stay away from a flat surface (i.e. a pan, skillet, griddle, etc.). I chose this simply based on the fact that it resembled an actual grill with openings and such. I'm very glad I did. Many times in the past I've cooked meat in a nice pan or griddle, and every time it curdles the fat around the edges of the meat and makes it look so unappetizing. That is not the case here, this grills up meat as if it actually were on a grill. I typically only grill on a gas grill (no knock against charcoal or Traeger), I cannot believe how closely this imitates the quality of grilling over gas. In fact, I've found my meats to be more savory and juicy. Food appears to retain more moisture on this grill. There is, however, a side affect to grilling indoors...the odor. Depending on what you grill can leave a pretty menacing cloud of odor and visible smoke in your kitchen. After grilling some delicious steaks, it took a bit to clear that smell out of the house. Unfortunately, in my case, I don''t have a vent that sends cooking vapor outside, it simply recirculates it through a filter. While that helps, it has made it a bit inconvenient to grill inside. This really was only meant to get us through the bitter cold winters, so for now it will go into storage (or come along on camping trips), but I can't dock a star as it does what it is meant to do, exceptionally well.Cleaning is also a breeze, I am stunned at how easy this thing pulls apart and plops right into the dishwasher. It truly makes it that much easier to use based on how simple it is to clean. Since there are slots below the food for the grease to drip, it prevents the majority of splatter and keeps things nice and tidy.

Wonderful indoor grill cooks well and so easy to clean.

Exceptional if you’re on a diet (and even if you're not)
I cannot rave enough about the Hamilton Electric Indoor Grill. It is simply amazing! It is lightweight (unlike other grills or air fryers), heats quickly, the removable tray, grill plate and cover remove easily for cleaning, and it's small enough to store in a cabinet. I've grilled flavorful fish, chicken, pork chops and vegetables on the grill making it extremely versatile. This grill is one of the best kitchen purchases I've made in a long time. You can also put a piece of aluminum foil to line the drip tray making clean-up even easier!

New Buyers Beware! - updated
I initially bought this item back in 2020 and I LOVED it. It was absolutely GREAT as a kitchen counter top electric grill. The cook surface heated evenly, it was easy to clean, everything about it was GREAT.Well, I used the item so much that over time it just got worn down and it came time for replacement.I replaced it with the exact same model in November of 2025. However, the new replacement unit was not the same. It did looks the same visually, and the operation of it with the control knob was the same.... but it was still NOT the same unit. The actual cook grill would give off a very funky odor every time it heated up. Almost like a burning chemical smell. Also, any food that I put on the cook grill would stick terribly. And when I say it would stick, I mean I literally would have to use a spatula to scrape the food off the grill because the bottom of the food would attach itself to the cook grill. I tried using non-stick cooking spray and that didn't help at all. I tried running the grill through the dishwasher a few times, still the same issue. Keep in mind, the original unit had no stick problems at all. I never needed non-stock spray. This new unit was so bad with the sticking that it was unusable. Finally after 5 or 6 uses and it just destroying my food due to the sticking issues I got fed up and called the manufacture (H.B.) support line. I told them the problem. I explained how the original unit was great, but this new one was so problematic. The woman that I spoke with told me that within the last few months they changed the way that they coat the cooking grill because whatever chemical they used previously was no longer allowed in certain states and for that reason they have recently (as of late 2025) been doing something different to the cook grill. They are shipping me out a new cook grill under warranty just in case I got a bad one. However, knowing that they completely changed how they coat the cook top has me concerned that maybe I didn't get a "faulty" grill, and maybe the problem is whatever change they made was a bad decision as far as how the problem performs.Once I receive the new cook top I'll post another update, but to anyone reading the reviews for this item currently - BEWARE. Yes, at one point this WAS a great product there were changes made in late 2025 and at least in my personal experience those changes really hurt the product. If my cook top just happened to be faulty, I'll post an update with that info once I receive the new cook top and confirm. But if my cook top isn't "faulty" and is just a product of these 2025 changes that they made with the chemical coating then this is a 0 star product and a piece of junk. So beware when you read any reviews that might be a little bit older, because those reviews would be from when this actually was a great product lol.*UPDATE - I did get the replacement cooktop for the grill and after using it for the first time it seems like that terrible stick problem is gone!! So, in regards to my above review, they DID make a change to the way they coated the cooktop for anti-stick at some point in 2025 and honestly, the older coating that they used was much, much better. But that being said, the cooktop that was causing terrible stick issues was in-fact defective (maybe it never got coated?) because the replacement cooktop that they sent me is much better with the no-stick.... So my final review for this item is 4 stars. The original version of this item, back before 2025 was a 5 star product. It was absolutely awesome. But the current version of this product, that uses the different no-stick coating on the cooktop is 4 stars just because it's not quite as good - although it is not the absolute disaster that I was talking about above (that ended up being a defective cooktop)

LOVE this grill, no more using the big gas grill outside!
I'm recently cooking for just one again, and I love grilled foods... but pulling out the huge gas grill just to make one steak, one hamburger, or one of anything just seemed to be too much for me. Plus, my hubby always changed out the big tanks for me, and since I lost him, I just don't feel comfortable doing that myself. So, I decided to try one of those new fangled indoor smokeless grills. And I decided on this one because #1. I have never been disappointed with a Hamilton Beach product and #2. I liked the idea of the searing grill! I am very happy that I did choose this one! It works WONDERFULLY!The first thing I tried was a nice boneless rib eye steak. I followed the direction to a T, tested the internal temp before removing it from the grill, and I had the most tender, perfectly cooked steak! My next "test" was a bone-in center cut pork chop, along with a zucchini, onion and sweet potato to go with. Here, I made a mistake by not reading the instructions perfectly before hand, and I started the chop before starting the veggies. So, by the time my chop was done, the veggies were still a bit too crisp and undercooked for my liking. But that was MY fault, not the grill's. Third time was the charm, same ingredients only this time I tried a boneless chop. I started the veggies a bit before the meat, with the setting on sear... then added the meat, started the meat timer (NOT included, just my own digital timer), turned down the heat when I turned the meat and veggies... and ended up with a DELISH dinner, with everything cooked to perfection! And to my surprise, every single time I cook a chop on this thing I get a PERFECTLY cooked chop, tender, moist, and cooked to perfection! Next up was a good ol' hamburger. This thing cooks a delish burger in the time it takes to heat up my large outdoor gas grill, and I end up with a burger that is cooked to the doneness I want, is juicy, tender, and I didn't have to pull out that huge grill! One night I decided I just wanted grilled veggies for dinner, so I settled on sweet potato, tomatoes, sweet onion and green peppers. I DID add some flour to the tomatoes, but just seasonings on the other veggies. And again, everything cooked to perfection, tasted wonderful, and this has become an often cooked meal at my house now. I honestly use this grill at LEAST 3 times a week now, and the only thing I've made that was excellent was one steak, that was cooked to perfection but was just a lousy tough mess, and it was the steak, not the grill! Now, one thing that's easy about an outside, gas grill is clean up. Turn up that baby to high for a few minutes, then run a brush over it, right? Or in my case, and stainless steal scrubber that doesn't shed bristles that can get caught in your food. ANYway, clean up with this grill is even easier than that! A quick rinse under hot water and 99% of the burned on crumblies just rinse away, and a quick wipe with a soapy sponge leaves me with a perfectly cleaned grill. The drip try slides out and is just as easy to clean. The lid slide off and again, just a quick wipe with a soap sponge and it's good to go!I mentioned my new grill to a neighbor, and showed them a pic of one of my completed meals (yes, I take pics of my cooking!) and next thing I knew, she was asking me how to clean it properly, she went and ordered one for herself. And just so everyone understands this, the grill comes out of the appliance easily, just lift it up, and the removable parts all ALL able to be submerged in soapy water! She was afraid of getting the two pronged "connectors" wet, but you don't have to worry about that, the only part that can't be submerged is the actual body of the grill, the part that has the cord attached to it!I have since posted about my new kitchen love affair on a diet site that I frequent, and so far, 3 of my online buddies have also purchased this fantastic grill. And every last one of them thanks me every time they use it, saying it's the easiest thing to clean, that it does such a great job of grilling all their different foods, and not one of them has had a single complaint about this searing grill! And I do have to admit, my food LOOKS prettier when it comes off this grill than when I would cook on the big gas grill, the colors are better, less burned/browned, less overcooked, less smoky looking. Hey food appearance can make a difference in taste, too!So, all in all, I simply LOVE my searing grill. It makes everything easy to cook, from burgers to links to steaks to shrimp to veggies and even to tomatoes! I couldn't be more pleased with my grill. OH and I forgot to mention, I have NEVER had to grease this baby, no quick sprays of oil, no rubbing it down before heating... nothing sticks to it, which is why it is so very easy to clean! SO my food is also lower in calories, especially my veggies which I would always spray with oil before putting on the grill! Now, I just sprinkle spices and cook! I give this appliance 2 thumbs up and wish I had a few more thumbs to give to it!

Very disappointed
I had very high hopes for this grill. I was tired of the George Foreman type contact grills because I'm eating more and more fish (i.e. flounder) and I wanted something that would only cook one side at a time and not smash the delicate fish. I expected longer cooking times because this grill only cooks one side at a time, but the slow cooking time, even on "Sear", is absurd. Believe the reviews that say that this thing takes forever to cook food.To begin with, this grill takes between 8 and 10 minutes just to preheat. It's nice that it has a "Ready" light, but that's when the real fun begins. It takes seven and a half minutes PER SIDE, on SEAR, just to cook one frozen 4 ounce hamburger patty. Start to finish that's around 25 minutes. Believe the critical reviews that state that this thing is SLOW. And to make matters worse, the heat is very uneven -- meaning, it's hotter, and cooks 'faster' in some areas than others. (Faster is a relative term here, because of the overall slowness of the grill.)Then we get to the clean up. The reviews are mixed on that subject. I suppose it depends on how clean people want their grills to be. The non-stick surface is relatively easy to clean, but all the openings in the grill surface, while great for allowing fat to drain off, make cleaning this thing a real PITA. Some of the food and fat that drips down through the openings gets caught in said openings, and the bare metal surface underneath gets dark burnt spots even after the first use and will only come off with steel wool -- a green scrubby pad is ineffective. (NOTE: I only use safe nylon pads on the non-stick part; it's the all metal part underneath that gets discolored and stained from the fats that drip down. See the photos from Alex Balistrieri, 3 star review, 3/28/17, to see what the underside of this grill turns into after time if not thoroughly cleaned after each use.)It has a nice generous drip tray, and it looks great. And the lid does come off for cleaning. And the price is great. But the cooking times are so slow, and the cleanup is such a chore, that I'll be replacing this with another type of indoor grill A.S.A.P. (I'm hoping that the Cuisinart GR-150 will work better, since it has the option of being used as either a full contact grill (both sides on), or as a one side only on, since both top and bottom plates have independent on/off heating controls. So to grill delicate fish, I can turn on only the bottom plate, turn off the top plate, and elevate the lid enough to not touch the fish, but still keep any great from splattering in the kitchen.)
