Durable and playable
This 16 guage string is very durable and quite playable. A string for the good, all-around player. Have used it for years.

You may want to ignore this review
because I've never been able to tell much difference between tennis strings. They all seem to 'work' about the same for me. But I'm no Roger Federererer (USTA 4.0, play a lot of 4.5). So, that being the case, these are perfectly good strings at a reasonable price. I like poly because they're self-adjusting, and because they hold tension and generally last a lot longer than gut or synth. No muss, no fuss. I can't speak to the longevity of these yet, but so far so good.A couple of things about poly - it's important not to pre- or overstretch them - they're already where they need to be, so you're just yanking the life out of them. (This is why they sometimes have a reputation for 'losing' tension.) It's also important to tension them at least 5 and up to 10 pounds looser than gut or synth. They're quite stiff, which makes up the difference in feel and performance. And at higher tensions that stiffness will really do a number on your arm.

Tourna 16g Premium Polyester Tennis String
I'm a 4.0 USTA Tournament Player and used 2 reels (660 ft = 20 racquets) of Tourna Big Hitter Blue (BHB) [16g & 17g] for the past 2 years, currently on my 3rd reel of BHB (17g). Came accross Tourna Premium Poly ($34.99) while browsing at Amazon.com and became curious since it is less than half the price of BHB ($72.95). Most, if not all of the popular online tennis stores do not carry this product. So, i ordered a reel and strung my racquet (Dunlop 100 4D 16x19 string pattern) at 48 lbs. I was amazed at how easy it is to string this poly into my racquet particularly the crosses, seems to me there's no difference with BHB or any other Tourna poly stings i had used (IMHO) as far as stringing into a racquet.Right after stringing the racquet, i then proceeded to the tennis courts along with my ball hopper (just in case there's nobody to hit with). Started my service motion slowly just to get a feel of the new strings hitting the ball so, i basically doing a top spin serve followed by flat serve. Then, i cranked up the racquet head speed onto my normal head speed and i didn't feel any difference between the premium poly vs. the BHB. Then, i grab my other Dunlop 100 4D racquet strung with BHB (same tension at 48 lbs) and hit some serves. All in all, i end up using approximately more than 300 balls (my ball hopper is rated 75 balls).A tennis buddy came in right after i finished my 4th bucket and we hit for more than an hour. I predominently used the racquet strung with the premium poly during our rally since i wanted to make sure this isn't fluke. To my amazement, there's so much feel (i.e., crisp, good ball pocketing) and i can impart a lot of spin on my groundies. Power is about right to my taste and the strings didn't move at all even if i hit powerful groundstrokes and volleys. Based on my previous experience with BHB, a slight movement of the main strings could be seen after hitting more than an hour or so.Overall, there's no tangible significant difference between the higher price BHB vs. the premium poly based on my testing other than the price and slight movement of the BHB strings. I wish the popular online tennis stores carry this product but kudos to Amazon for having this in. I'll probably order a couple of reels in a month or so just in case they discontinue producing this excellent product.

For the price, you can't go wrong
Cheap and effective. I've strung my rackets three or four times so far and haven't had a problem playing with these strings. Of course, as with any change (in racket or strings or grips, etc.) it took a bit to adjust. But given a bit of time on the court, I have been using nothing but these strings and have no problems. They break every couple months as a 4.0 player who is not a heavy hitter and plays a couple times a week.

A string that stretch but does not recoil
Bought a 18 gauge to try it out. Want to see if I should buy a reel at very affordable price. This string has a characteristic that it stretched but does not recoil. When I tensioned it on string machine, even at 46 lb, I learned I had to wait for it to stretch, settled, and re-tensioned it a bit to stay consistent tension. Playability is average (good enough). It doesn't grab the ball long enough on serve. When I pushed my forehand, ball would fly long. On slice, it is good and controllable. Overall, rating is 3 stars. I think after the string has settled, it plays ok.

Awesome main hybrid string
17 g is really 17, which you can see on the sticker. Don’t know why people are complaining about that. I’ve been hitting with these strings for a year. They’re a stiff monofilament poly, but that’s what I look for. I’m able to pick up heavy balls and generate spin off them still. I hybrid it with synthetic gut in the crosses to keep some comfort and control. I string it at 50lbs, and you probably shouldn’t do much more than that if it’s poly anyways. I’ll keep buying them until it’s discontinued. Awesome deal. 4.5 USTA player.
