Pretty remarkable
This is my first electronic kit, bought to practice in my apartment. I am really pleased with how easy this is to play, how quiet it is externally, and it seems pretty robust so far. Great range of kits and sounds, particularly like being able to change individual drums and mix the sets up. Instructions to set up are OK but do require a bit of thought. One thing: description says this does not ship with a bass pedal; actually it does, so no need to buy one separately (like I did!)

Very high-quality construction and outstanding price for durable dual-zone 2-ply mesh pads all around, chokeable crash/ride cymbals, great feeling 2-ply mesh kick, solid drum rack, and the various other bits and pieces. The pads are all extremely responsive with next to no hotspotting (thanks to the 4 [toms] or 6 [snare] foam piezo-to-mesh contact points in each pad, as opposed to a singular foam cone right in the center on other manufacturer's kits). Dynamics are great, rim and head zones register hits perfectly, and they're quiet(ish). The cymbals are probably the weakest point pad-wise. That's not to say they're bad--they register hits, dynamics, and chokes very reliably. They're just single zone (marketing says they're dual zone, but they mean one zone for hits and the other 'zone' is the choke switch) and on the small side. So no ride bell or edge sounds out of the box. Otherwise they're durable, accurate, and overall fully functional. The module has a ton of sounds, settings with which to tinker, and connectivity options. The built-in sounds are...passable depending on your circumstance. If you're just playing for you in your headphones you'll find many sounds fit the bill. If you're trying to perform on stage then it'll be much more difficult to find and tune sounds that will work well enough...but it's nigh impossible to blow anyone away. Don't buy it for the sounds, unless you're just going to drum the days away with headphones. Don't let that discourage you though! With the USB-MIDI and traditional MIDI output options, you have two ways to pipe the Command's hits/MIDI info to your computer. There you can use standalone drum software like the free MT Power Drum Kit and Steven Slate Drums 5.5 Free or higher quality paid options like EZdrummer, Addictive Drums, or my personal favorite SuperiorDrummer 3 to trigger incredible sounds with enhanced dynamics and realism. I've upgraded my Command set with 3-ply white heads, a triple zone ride (took some finagling to get to work), and a 2-piece hihat and remote/cable pedal for a way more natural and traditional hihat experience. I did experiment with a 10" Roland PD-105BK pad that I borrowed from a friend as my snare (seen in one of the pics), and although it worked and triggered great there was a heckin' hotspot in and around the middle due to the single trigger cone (believe me I tried to tune it out in trigger and software settings, but there's no way around it). I went back to the stock Command snare and so much better. With minimal upgrades (or none!) and quality drum computer software, you'll be blown away at how amazing this kit feels and sounds for the price--easily rivals Roland's best (although with mid and high-end Roland modules you're not reliant on hooking up to a computer to get amazing sounds...but you're gonna pay dearly for the lack of that extremely minor inconvenience). For personal enjoyment and/or practicing then the kit is perfect for the intermediate drummer straight out of the box. You really can't go wrong!

So far, my son is really happy with this set. He had before a cheaper one, butsome parts broke after couple of months. This set is well made, and setting each pad / cymbal can be done with several adjustments (height rotation, tilt, space between each pad). Everuy bar is made with metal, not hard plastic. So it feels and is solid. Assembly is really easy. The control panel has a lots of settings / songs, and seems versatile. You can even change / configure how each pad will sound; whereas pre-defined ones are already set (he plays xylophon !!).

My wife wanted a drum kit for Christmas, and we live in an apartment. As you may have guessed a drum kit does not bode well with neighbors. So after watching some youtube videos of electronics drum sets I decided this was the way to go. From my research three brands rose to the top of all the reviews. Roland, Alesis, and Yamaha. The Roland kits are pricey, but they get stellar reviews. Alesis was more affordable, and the reviews are awesome for them as well. I will be honest I did not read much into the Yamaha. I was already set it was going to be Alesis or Roland for my wife. After much research I decided the Alesis Surge Mesh kit was the best for her. It had all the features she needed, some expandability, and the reviews were all good! After she opened it, set up was relatively simple. Follow the instructions which are all in pictures. After all guys don't read the words in instructions anyways. Sat the wife behind the kit, and adjusted it to fit her. And away she went. This kit is absolutely worth every penny. The drum kit sounds extremely well. Could not be happier with it's performance! Some side notes though! So yes this kit comes with every thing you need for it, and it alone! If this is your very first drum kit you will need a throne, amplifier, and drum sticks. The kit does come with some wood tipped sticks, but in the reviews these are not the best thing for a mesh kit. My add ons to this kit! -Zildjan nylon tipped anti-vibe drums sticks. Made for electric drums, and feel awesome! -Simons DA50 Amplifier, this is a must if you want to hear your drums! Great little amp! This amp with the Surge Kit is a solid combo! -Alesis Electronic Drum Head Set. These headphones are designed for electric drums and sound amazing. Remember that part about us living in an apartment? My wife can play as loud as she wants and all you hear is the tap of the stick to the pads! These headphones are a MUST (especially for parents with young trainees :p) -Gibraltar throne... you got a nice drum kit.... sit on something that wont make your sore or tired! Gibraltar makes the best drum thrones. -Vic Firth drum stick caddy, seriously this is a nice addition to ANY drum kit. -Lastly get a quality 1/4" cable to go between the control and the amp.... DO NOT CHEAP OUT! you will regret it! All these items are available here on Amazon, or your favorite Guitar (ahem) place. :D Happy drumming!
