How long is the furthest possible reach?

The length of the arm, approximately 18 inches. Note the further you reach, the more strain you will put on the whole apparatus.

Could you type on the keyboard of a laptop placed on this stand and use it at standing height? Is it stable enough for typing?

Rock solid for typing on for sure. Standing?? The device is desk mounted and has about 18 inches of vertical travel. I type and lean on it too! VERY Solid
