Billy Joel Favorites Keyboard Book (Note-for-note Keyboard Transcriptions)

For anyone who bought the Hal Leonard Billy Joel Keyboard book, you already know what the book is about. Same thing, which is note-for-note keyboard transcriptions of Billy Joel songs. Not much else to say. I've gone through a few songs and they seem very accurate. Overall I think the song selection is great. Like everyone else I'm sure you were hoping for a certain song or two that didn't show up. For me I wish they had nixed "River of Dreams" or "An Innocent Man" (not really standout keyboard songs) and replaced them with "The Ballad of Billy the Kid", "Last of the Big Time Spenders", "Souvenir", "Ain't No Crime"... heck any and all songs from the Piano Man or Streetlife Serenade albums for that matter. I was really hoping for "The Ballad of Billy the Kid" though. Hopefully it will show up eventually. Not a big deal, just odd.

As an intermediate player I look forward to the challenges these pieces provide, and this book, like most of the other note for note transcription books, does that. I've been a huge Billy Joel fan my whole life, and to have the keyboard/vocal transcriptions from his music is great. The transcriptions are, for the most part, exactly what you hear on the records. There are a just a few mistakes, but none that are significant enough to even consider deducting a star from this product. As an added bonus, you also get some synthesizer and instrumental solo lines written out as well. I bought this book for my 14 yr old son, he takes piano lessons and actually asked me to buy it for him. He has another other Billy Joel piano book, but he really wanted this one. He really likes it and uses it when he’s practicing. Just for reference, he’s been taking piano lessons for a year and a half. Good purchase!!

Easy to follow and a good way to play the classics. Wish it had she’s got a way though. Sad.

Not many of the biggest hits, just the brainiest pieces with thick piano parts. Even if you learn them, they wouldn't be popular to perform.

It has been years since I played Billy Joel music note for note for what he recorded. His piano compositions are as close to learning classical music as you will get with pop/rock and roll music. It is hard work to play at his level, but so rewarding when you learn a song.

This book is all you want to be able to play these songs note for note accurately. I have really enjoyed it

What more is there to say. It's Billy's songs the way Billy plays them. I loved every one, save for except Baby Grand, as it's split in to 2, one for Billy and one for Ray. I have a Piano/Vocal/Chord version of it in The Bridge, which I prefer. Anyway, if you want to play like Billy, this is the book you are looking for.

Not schmaltzy adaptations but what Billy actually plays.

amazonから送られてきて、想像よりかなり分厚い楽譜なのに驚きました。つまり、かなりゆったりとした編集になっていますので、テンポの速い曲だと譜めくりが大変かも。しかし装飾譜など非常に再現性の高い書き込みになっていて、ビリーの手のクセというか、フィルインの傾向などもしっかり学習できます。個人的には、「ウィーン」の楽譜が収められていて大満足。2012年9月現在の最新曲である「オール・マイ・ライフ」もうれしい限りです。当方はまず「眠りつく君に」をマスターすべく練習開始。円高のおかげもあってか、非常にリーズナブルな楽譜集です。

収録数：全18曲。さすが本場アメリカのHal Leonard出版の採譜精度には改めてアッパレ！和音、アルペジオ、リズムのどれをとってもその完成度には大満足。譜面に従ってピアノを弾いてみると、、感動！と同時に自分の耳コピー能力に劣等感を覚えました。個人的に醍醐味なのが、アルバム「ニューヨーク物語」に収録されているピアノの傑作が多数含まれていること。「怒れる若者」、「夏ハイランドフォールズ」、「マイアミ2017」など。ハイランドは何とも巧妙なアルペジオであると痛感。その他、「ルートビアラグ」は何とも有難い。装飾音符も見事に採譜。ビリーのインストロメンタルで一番楽しい曲です。その他、「BabyGrand」にはビックラこきました。いざ弾いてみるとこんな重厚なJazzyだったとは。あまり好みではなかった曲ですが、ぜひピアノ演奏したくなってしまった曲。そして「エンターテイナー」の中盤、バンジョー伴奏の次に現れるカントリー系ブギウギ調の部分も見事にピックアップされている。結論として、本楽譜はシリーズ1作目「KeyboardBook」と併せて、ビリー弾語り譜としては申し分ない見事な神業的作品です。
