Best of the Pointer Sisters

This collection is full of the hits, not the misses. You get the songs from 1978 through 1986, that were major hits. And I recommend it as such--running through several albums and getting those songs you remembered so well.The songs are full album versions. You are not getting those 12" single versions, alternate takes, or shortened versions with this collection. I have had other Pointers collections where there were alternate versions, with two separate discs each with different songs that were the original mix and the other album having a different half with alternate takes. Not here--you are going to find all the important songs on a single disc with no fuss and muss.Starting with Fire--the Pointers' first song as a trio. This came in late 1978. He's So Shy, Slow Hand, and Should I Do It are here. And the big hits off Breakout are here, along with Dare Me and Goldmine (the latest song on here, out in late 1986). These songs are soul with an upbeat tempo, and some could be taken for dance music (especially some of the Breakout songs). You will not find any pre-1978 Pointers songs when there were four members (if you are looking for songs like Betcha Got a Chick on the Side or Yes We Can-Can, you will not find them here).They did a nice job at selecting the songs. Without the outtakes and second-tier songs, they were able to fit it onto one disc (whether you buy it as a CD or download it to burn onto one disc). And without compromising the lengths by giving you all shortened versions of every song, either. This gives you the best value for the money, since you are paying only for a single disc. I definitely would recommend picking up this collection of fine songs, if you enjoy R&B or dance music that isn't too disco-y.

I wasn’t crazy about the versions of the songs - perhaps remixes or live? I returned this CD and purchased “Jump: The Best of The Pointer Sisters.”

After reading the reviews for Pointer Sisters compilations, I bought this one -- in time to take on a recent RV trip. Slogging up 101 from San Luis to Morgan Hill, the trip went much quicker listening to this album. Forgot all but about three of the cuts, and I enjoyed refreshing my memories of the Bay Area at that time. This is the album to buy. Thanks to the other reviewers for "pointing" me to this one.

Fun stuff! Some of their synth work is amazing and still sounds modern after ...decades! And 3 sisters with such different vocal ranges!

Best of the Pointer Sisters cd I like it, and it has songs like:Fire, Slow Hand, Automatic, Jump (For My Love), I'm So Excited, Neutron Dance on this cd and more that are good too. These songs are my favorite, so I purchase this cd of Best of the Pointer Sisters. Because this cd featured the songs I know and like instead of looking for these songs on the other Pointer Sisters cd's. Love the Pointer Sisters! Great collection!My mom tells me that they were "pretty popular" back in the day...however, I feel they should've been mega-stars. These ladies were (still are) awesome!
