Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (PS4)

This is genuinely not only one of the greatest games ever made, it is also one of the most beautiful stories ever told. All the characters are compelling, the updated graphics and the cutscenes have a lot of beauty and charm, the soundtrack is mesmerizing. Advice, if I may: explore thoroughly, check walkthroughs for help, and start playing Triple Triad early on!!!

This was my favorite game back in high school, and I’m so glad to have it again! It works great on my PS4 and brings back so many memories. The remastered version looks awesome, and the gameplay is just as fun as I remember.

Another classic game I get to relive thanks to the remastered version. Brings back a lot of memories, and it’s great to see it cleaned up for modern systems. I love these kinds of releases — keeps the good stuff alive without messing with what made it great.

The storyline for FF8 has to be the best out of all the games. I really wish that square enix would have taken the time to make this a remake instead of remaster. It deserves more recognition. I keep searching for similar storylines in other games but nothing can compare to the nostalgia I feel with this game. It’s my favorite game of all time. I played the original on the ps1 when I was 10 yrs old and I couldn’t really understand the hidden meanings/ gems in the game at the time. Replaying it as an adult made me realize everything I missed in this game as a kid. It was so fun playing this the second time around as I never quite got past the outer space scene because this game is hard if you are a certain age. So happy to beat it 20 years later. I love this game so much I have it on the ps4, vita and switch.

Still love the story, the music, the art direction, and I appreciate the ability to speed up the battles and map exploration. Also 10/10 just because Zell is absolutely broken and hits like a tank!

I bought the original FFVIII on PS2 25 years ago. I played it for a while then for reasons I can't remember, I stopped playing it and have graduated to a PS4. I didn't know this game was available on PS4 until recently, and it was not that expensive so I decided to pick it up. The graphics look dated tbh and the gameplay is a bit clunky compared to modern games, but what this does offer is the incredible journey of a young mercenary, Squall, and his friends (and his love interest) as they fight to protect their world from evil forces. Fantastic story with characters that you come to love. And nostalgic value too! Highly recommended.

This is one of the best in the series. FFVIII has cool characters and excellent CG FMV movies. The new remaster improves the graphics and character models a bit but the core game play remains. There are some nifty options to make your experience a bit smoother like full magic which means you don't have to spend your time drawing magic more than once or worrying about using your stock. However, the main reason to play this is the characters and story. This is classic Final Fantasy with proper turn based battles and CG cutscenes.
