Great coffeemaker and compact too!
Second Update: who has time to update a review twice? Well I am just relaxing with a cup of coffee made in this brewer which is still working great after almost 3 years of daily use. I am thinking of ordering another one to keep as a spare in case the first one dies but it's still working like new. I am very pleased with this little machine. So compact and easy to use. Update: Used this coffeemaker every day for almost a year now. It's compact so we brought it on vacation also. Still EXTREMELY pleased with it. Works perfectly, never malfunctions and brews a great hot cup of coffee. We use Peet's Major Dickason blend with about 9oz. of water - excellent dark strong euro flavor. Bought this coffeemaker so my wife could make a single cup of coffee in the afternoons or evenings without having to make a larger pot with our regular coffeemaker. Wanted something compact to hide in kitchen cabinet or at least not take up much space on counter top. It does a great job, and she can pick from dozens of types and flavors. Works with any brand Kcup I think (she has used 3 different brands so far). It makes great tasting coffee, quite hot, and you can use any size cup or mug you want. A typical coffee mug holds about 10-12 ounces and is perfect size for this machine. You could easily fit a larger mug up to about 16 ounces. You simply pour a mugful of water into the top of the machine, drop in a Kcup, close the lid, place the mug in the machine and press the start button. The water heats up, the machine pumps it through the Kcup and into your mug, then shuts itself completely off. Total time about 3 minutes. So far very pleased. Hope it keeps working for years.

Nice single cup coffee maker
This is the very first single cup coffee maker I have ever owned. I've always used the 3 minute Bunn. However, my schedule has changed to where I make less coffee at home, in large quantities.. So I started reading reviews, like everyone does, on which unit to buy.. I didn't want to spend the money on the expensive models, and yet I didn't want something with a life of 1 month...I decided to give this model a try.. It was very straight forward to operate ( I'd never used one before ) . There are quick instructions on the lid, and it also comes with a paper manual.. I have used a few different K cups without any issues. You basically put in your K cup of your choice, fill it with water ( about a cup), and push the button.. The unit heats the water and automatically dispenses the coffee once it's ready to do so.. Then shuts off automatically.. I've been using it pretty much every day for two months with zero issues.. For $40.00 i am very happy with my purchase.. I hope i get many years of use out of it. The one thing you need to do, that sounds obvious, is to remember to put a cup under the unit before you start each time.. I forgot one of the first times and ended up with coffee all over my kitchen island.. Totally my fault and no reflection on the product... I did run white vinegar thru the unit prior to using it.. I did not experience any "plastic" taste as some other reviewers have stated.. I think it's a good idea to do it prior to using... I would recommend this coffee maker to anyone looking for a low cost one cup machine. UPDATE: July 21, 2019 - coffee maker is still going strong, after being used every day for approximately 9 months. Makes good coffee. Easy to use. I would recommend to anyone looking for a low priced 1 cup machine. UPDATE - Feb 2021 and it is still going strong !

Not a great brewer
So, there are three PROs for this brewer: 1) It makes your coffee FAST. 2) It's relatively easy to clean. 3) It's very easy to use. Now for the CONs: 1) Coffee isn't the hottest - after 10 minutes in a well-insulated mug it's already cooled down significantly. I drink my coffee over a 30-minute period, and I usually have to heat it up twice. 2) Coffee doesn't taste good. It's weak, and there are usually some grounds at the bottom of my cup. I think it brews it TOO fast, so the grounds aren't given enough time to steep. I'm using the same batch of K-cups from my last brewer (that died), so it's not the cups themselves. 3) Product is cheaply made. The plastic on this brewer is definitely of a much inferior quality to my last brewer (Sboly single-cup brewer, about $15 more than this one). It's thinner, and just doesn't feel like a quality product. It weighs *nothing*, like I can dangle it off of my index finger easier than one of my coffee mugs. 4) Not much room for a good-sized mug. I can't use any of my larger mugs in this - the largest that fits is a 12-oz. The platform the mug sits on is really high and the cup vessel is really low, so you've got only 5" for your mug. I usually brew 11 oz. and add creamer, so this is an issue. I brew it in my 12-oz mug, then have to pour it in another to add creamer so it doesn't overflow the mug when I tip it to drink. 5) They give you a rubber drip tray that sits on top of the platform but it's useless. It's pretty thick for starters, so I can't use it with the mug (because the mug won't fit) and it hardly holds any spill over (my last brewer held up to 6 oz) because it's pretty much solid with a few grooves. 6) It sounds like it's going to take off from my kitchen counter. It's pretty...forceful. And I think that's part of the reason I'm getting grounds in my coffee: it's trying to blast through so quickly to get you the coffee fast that it's just not brewing correctly and taking grounds along for the ride. Overall, I'm sorry I bought it as it was a waste of my money. It works, but not well. I've got coffee, but I don't enjoy drinking it. While it fits on my limited counter space, it doesn't fit most of my mugs. :(

Not for tall mugs
The simplicity is nice. Just fill the water reservoir and press the power button. The power shuts off automatically when done. The power cord stores inside the machine for travel, and it is also nice for kitchen use because you only have to expose the length needed for a neat look. The cup height can only be about 4 inches. With the drip tray removed it can be up to about 4.5 inches. Unfortunately non of my mugs fit without tilting it to go underneath the dispenser. I knew about the 10 ounce limit and that is all I drink, but my mugs happened to be too tall for this machine. It is not 1200 Watts as shown in the web page (at the time of this purchase). It is a misprint as confirmed by the manufacturer and they are going to fix the description to say 800 Watts. In actuality, I measure the wattage at 710, so it was disappointing that it takes about 3 minutes to brew a cup. That does not seem much, but that extra 2 minutes seems like a long time when you are used to the full-size Keurig with pre-heated water.

Love this little machine!
We have very little space and this little workhorse is absolutely perfect for us. We live fulltime on our sailboat, so space is a premium. Plus during passages to other countries, making coffee can be a challenge. The seas were really rough our last big passage and our pour little Maxpresso was tossed about a bit. But it is so well built it just keeps on going! It literally made the difference between being able to have a cup of coffee or nothing. It’s so easy to use! We also bought the reusable cups to use our own choice of coffee. And we love the fact there isn’t a reseravoir, so each cup is fresh water. It’s a great bang for your buck! Update. We have been using this little machine for 4 months now and we are still loving it. We definitely prefer filling our own pods with our choice of coffee. This little machine makes life so much easier for us. We never need coffee at the same time, so this was the perfect solution and easy enough to operate, I’m not stuck with doing everything anymore.

It's okay ... so so
I like that it's simple add water and push the button. Great for my 86 yr old Mom; however, it holds ONLY the one cup you're using so you're having to add water all the time, it drips all the time when you open the lid, take out the pod, add water like even the following day or two it's still dripping chocolate or coffee or whatever was used last so that I don't like and we have to clean more than the Kuring as those drips get sticky at the spout so that I can do without. All in all would probably go back to Kurig for my next one only problem there is we tried this one because the last couple Kurig's we had were duds and only lasted a month or so. Oh and this one isn't loud it's about the same I guess as the others just messier

Good little unit
Pretty darn impressive for the money. Coffee brews just as well as my old Keurig model. This unit is very small and will fit nicely on my desk. The only downside and it isn't that big of a deal is that you have to pour the water from the cup you are using which causes the water to run on the desk as well, otherwise it will just run until the tank is empty, so if you try to eyeball it from a water bottle you may overflow your cup. To fix this I just use a measuring cup to pour the 1 1/4 cups of water that my coffee cup holds. It is very fast brewing as well. Attached is a video. It's a little loud, but that doesn't bother me. The video was started just after the k cup was installed, cup of coffee under 3 minutes. Update: January 15, 2017. Still loving this coffee maker, just wanted to update my review. I would say that with fairly heavy use this is still producing a good hot cup of coffee, although I am not sure how long this will last. The pump on the coffee maker continues to run even after the water is gone and I have to manually turn it off. Not a big deal right now as it only happens about every two cups or so. But I am still happy with it. The last Keurig single cup maker only lasted me 6 months, and was three times what I paid for this. If this one dies I will be getting another.

Small Footprint + Great Value = Buy It
I am happy with my purchase, but let me address other reviews that almost made me not buy this k-cup brewer: 1) "Hard to fill up." This has nothing to do with this k-cup brewer. Try using your coffee mug as a precision water pouring device and you will be sorely disappointed. YES, water DOES go everywhere if you try and aim water out of a coffee mug. The reason is there is not a pouring lip on a coffee mug. Duh. Solution: we keep a Pyrex measuring cup next to the coffee mugs and PROBLEM SOLVED. Fills with water quickly and easily, with no spills. 2) Next, I feel like a lot of reviewers were disappointed with the amount of the coffee output. Ten ounces, the amount it brews, is slightly less than a soda can (12 ounces). Pour that amount of liquid in your coffee cup before you order your machine and see if that'll be enough coffee for you. I included a photo of a full brew in my mug so you can see. It was fine for us, but I can imagine many Starbucks grande and venti drinkers that would be disappointed. FYI--a Starbucks 'tall' (SMALL) is 12 OUNCES. 3) Bad taste. YES, ours smelled/tasted metallic straight out of the box. After reading all the reviews, when I received my brewer I ran 6 cycles of water through and then brewed the first k-cup. The coffee was bitter and undrinkable. I then read the instructions for "descaling" in the booklet. (Fill with white vinegar and hit start so that it starts brewing, but without a k-cup. When it starts to brew shut OFF the machine and let it sit for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, hit start again so the vinegar is pumped out of the machine. THEN run water through (still no k-cup) for 6-10 times. I did it until I didn't smell any vinegar). Worked like a charm. Coffee tastes great. If this helped you, please click the "Helpful" button. Thanks! :)
