Glock Field Knife Fixed Blade Black Plain Root Saw 6.5" Polymer

I am an avid knife collector with over 350 knives collected over 55 years. My first knife was a Buck pocket knife given to me by my father. I still have that knife. My background, education, and experience have left me an expert on alloys. The Glock 81 Field knife is an outstanding value in my opinion. The materials used in its manufacture are excellent and the fit and finish are excellent. The blade is made from Bohler UHB20C steel, an Austrian equivalent to the 1095 steel used in the ubiquitous Ka-Bar. UHB20C is purer and appears to perform slightly better. The knife handle and sheath are made from the same polymer as is used in Glock's pistols. I don't baton my knives, I carry a Estwing hatchet when camping and keep another in the emergency kit in my vehicle, but there are videos of other folks batonning this knife on line. The blade on the Glock 81 is narrow but thick at 3/8". The knife comes sharp enough right out of the package but you'll need to work on it a little to get it razor sharp. That's part of the fun in owning a knife though isn't it? The blade seems to hold a edge quite well though. The saw did it's job pretty well, even on some rock hard oak. This knife comes in 4 colors, FDE, O.D. green, dark gray, and black. If you shop around a little you'll be able to buy 3 of them for the cost of 1 Ka-Bar. The black coating on the metal components of this Glock Field knife seems pretty tough. To prevent rust I smear Vaseline on all of my carbon steel cutting tools and keep a tube of it in my backpack and emergency kit. A light film of oil will work too. If you do get rust on your blade, soak it in apple cider vinegar and the rust will dissolve. So a great, dependable knife for as litte as $25...what's not to like? Another FYI: GlockStore.com usually has the Glock 81 Field Knife on sale. Update: I have been using this knife for awhile now and still like it alot. It a heck of a knife for the money. I'm old-school and prefer a leather sheath but I have to admit I like the Glock sheath very much. It is extremely durable and easy to attach to backpacks, chest rigs, etc. With a little practice the clip can be released with your thumb as you remove the knife. I like this knife so much I have purchased all 4 colors! Grumpy old guy seal of approval times 4!

Having had one of these, back when I was in high school, I wanted to get another. I can't remember what happened to my former knife, but this brought back some camping memories. Not a big fan of the saw back blade, but I can see it's use. Not a fan of the belt loop. It's the weak link with the sheath. Love the idea, and execution of the "durable, survive the apocalypse" construction! Now let's be honest. This is NOT the best survival, camping, hiking or whatever outdoor knife there is. However, it IS perfect for as a first large sheath knife for a teenager. Learning how to use, and sharpen a large knife, this really fits that nitch. Being inexpensive, it's a great knife to start with. And, as most kids will do, if they loose it...get another! I received this through Nimrod's Wares, of which I paid more because I don't have a Prime account, so I don't get the Prime price. Nimrod's shipped very fast, and I high recommend using them.

Super fair price for what you are getting. Did I need a big a** knife? No. Is it still bada**? Yes. Super durable. I’ve stabbed random trees in the park that looked at me wrong and gone absolutely ham on books to test the thing out and the blade won’t bend no matter how hard I stab solid wood and the blade retains its edge like no other knife I’ve ever had. The only issue I’ve had with it is that I cuz sand paper and it ended up taking off some of the paint. Would 100% reccomend.

It’s the standard 81 Glock knife having a clip point blade made of SAE 1095 carbon steel with a hardness of 55 HRC and is electrophoretic coated. The grips and sheaths are made of Glock-polymer. Sturdy and takes an excellent edge. The serrated top edge is more for plunging through hide or material and allows air pockets so the knife won’t get stuck. With this feature a blood groove is not needed. It does have functionality with the serrated portion as well. Would not use the end too much as a pommel but the knife takes a beating and I love the waterproof polymer sheath. Ive used it scuba diving and rinsed throughly. Good fighting knife as well with a more narrow blade and excellent clip point tip. I have several in different colors.

Great product and even came with the original Glock packaging and was delivered on time.

It is of high quality, very sharp , nice sheath. The only minus is that it doesn't shoot bullets. I figured having the glock name on it , that it would have a hidden gun in it or perhaps fire the blade as a projectile. NOPE! just a knife. That being said, it is a great knife. And being below $40. It is a great value. Don't be a dummy like me and assume that it is a gun.

I put the knife through it's paces last weekend. Went camping and forgot/lost my hatchet. Ended up using the Glock field knife to split firewood into smaller kindling, hammered tent stakes into the ground with the butt, and trim some small limbs out of walking paths on the island. It held up great. It feels good and balanced in the hand. It didn't hold an edge the best, but for the price point and the abuse I was putting it through I can't expect much more.

It is a bad ass knife. Came sharp af out the box. I really like it. But only time will tell

I've got 2 of them and I'll buy more if I can; too bad they are so expensive in Australia when you probably can get them for like 30 USD or less in US. They make really good throwing knives too. I have not really used them for anything hardcore but have seen enough videos to know they are nearly unbreakable.
