Will the honing steel get clog and how do u unclog it?

Yes, the knife blade will leave a dark streak as you draw it across the rod and "clog" it. This is the rod doing its job; removing the micro-bits of the blade that have "folded over" and caused it to become dull. The rod is easily cleaned using many methods, I prefer to use a desk-type pink pencil eraser.

Is this ceramic rod a full ceramic rod or ceramic coating on a steel?
