Buyer Beware - Ethanolamine
Please read an investigate the ingredients, specifically ethanolamine and hair loss. This product does cover gray, it does not have a strong smell like ammonia , however after 3 years of use I now know it is causing my hair to fall. It’s devastating . The hair product Industry is not regulated by the FDA , we are on our own to complete due diligence. I only wish I would have researched 3 years ago - the data was there on the web, I simply chose to be sucked in by the marketing .

Love it! Would buy again.
This hair dye left my hair shiny and weirdly enough felt healthier - if you’re not a hair professional, this is one of the safest way to color your hair IMO. I opted for the 4.0 dark brown and the color turned out almost black as you can see in the pic (my hair was a chestnut/medium brown before). It covered all of my greys!!! If you have medium to long hair, make sure you use 2 boxes like I did! The conditioner it came with was my favourite, very hydrating and smells amazing. Would buy it again!

Perfect Consistency
What I like best about this particular hair dye is it's thick consistency. It is important to me that a hair dye mixture not be runny during the time it takes me to apply, and this one truly fulfills this one requirement. During application, other dyes inevitably run and despite the strategically laid down towels meant to catch wayward fly-aways my efforts are not always successful if the hair dye doesn't hold together well. Such accidents can in some instances cause permanent discoloration to counter top/floor and/or cabinet/doors even when instantly wiped away. Although such damage is generally minor, in and of itself, it is damage that becomes more noticeable when cumulative and I wish to avoid it. The only other alternative is to pay the big bucks to the hair salons to have the job done elsewhere. Fortunately, Olia saves me the time and cost of patronizing this money-grabbing industry because it gives me the confidence I need for doing the job myself. The one other thing I like about this particular product is that the package always includes a tube of quality hair conditionner (emphasis on the world 'quality'). Now, if only Garnier would stay consistent with how available they make their Olia colours -- I mean, do they know how frustrating it is to their customers when they find a shade they like only to find it is the one on the shelf that is ALways unavailable? Or, worse yet, that their choice colour has suddenly been discontinued by the company for no reason whatsoever. Olia is one of the newer hair dye lines on the market and yet, it is already guilty of doing this.

Clumsy packaging
I purchased several of these online as drugstores locally had no stock due to Covid. While I do like the colorant, the length of time it lasts, and the grey coverage, I have to give it a lower rating due to the packaging.1. The box - larger than most, and has a punch-out hole to hold the applicator bottle - very similar to those you punch out on easter egg dye to hold the eggs after dying them. A bit disingenuous, unless you're 5 years old.2. There are a total of 4 containers - one empty applicator bottle and three with product.3. The developer is in a rather large and rigid plastic tube, which makes it difficult to squeeze out all the developer into the applicator bottle without cutting it open and using a utensil to remove what usually amount to about a third of the developer. I'm not certain why they don't just have it in the applicator bottle to begin with as most hair colors do. This is the item that made me give this a lower rating than I would have otherwise. It's a waste of plastic and frustrating to use.4. No such complaints about the colorant - it's in a much smaller and more flexible tube and very little remains in the tube once you've squeezed it into the applicator bottle. One thing I found odd was that in order to use it, you have to unscrew the cap, remove a plastic ring, then screw the cap on again to break the seal. I don't really think this is necessary and just feels like a gimmick to say "See? We're different"5. The applicator bottle works fine, although I think it is perhaps larger that it really needs to be.6. The after care conditioner is just okay. I have long hair and I find it does a poor job of untangling it when rinsing it off, and rather than give my hair body, it seems to weigh it down, even after rinsing thoroughly. So, although I like the color it gives me, and the gentleness of the color on my scalp, and the staying power, I can't say I will purchase this product again. It is annoying to get it ready to use, and I think it utilizes far more plastic than necessary for the sole purpose of making the box bigger and more noticeable on store shelves. If they reduce the waste and make the components less annoying, I may give it another try.

Danaged my hair and di not even cover my roots!
I ordered 2 boxes of Olia Medium Brown because I couldnt go to the pharmacy and this is what I usually buy. The first box I used left my hair fried and even after using the special conditioner, it felt like a loofah sponge. This has never happened to me in the 30 years plus that I have been dying my hair. I thought I had maybe done something wrong by not mixing it enough so I was stupid enough to use the second box tonight, 6 weeks later. The damage is so bad that I will have to cut off half my hair now AND I can still see my grey roots! People, there is something wrong with this product or batch. Highly not recommended.
