Please check your device's power specification. If output voltage, DC plug polarity, and plug's size meet your demand, and output power is greater than the rating power of your device. It will work well. Notes: If your device uses AA or AAA batteries, please take them out before charging it.

Can you get extention lead / cable for this

Yes you can, if you search Amazon for 'DC extension cable' you will find several pages pop up with varying lengths of cables

Why doesnt this charge batteries, if the volt is set right and it needs 2Amps and battery has charging safety why doesnt this provide yhe power?

Actually, it depends on your battery. If your battery has a safety protection system and it's rechargeable, the multiple voltage adapter can work for your device. Some batteries don't have related protection. If it's used improperly, it will damage the adapter and customer's device so we don't recommend using it for the battery.
