Tough and substantial!
Update: just returned from a 1900 mile trip. Used the expansion. Through 90~ heat to freezing and torrential downpours thus held up beautifully and kept everything dry!We used it for the first time this weekend on our small Class B Motorhome. We traveled to the NC Mountains where the temps dropped to freezing. We did not even use the expansion option but were able to store our 10x10 gazebo, the side screens, two umbrella chairs, a small folding aluminum table, a 6' X 8' rug, three plastic bins and a cooler. This is in a Northern Tool cargo carrier that has sides. See pix. We used the six straps to secure it. You can padlock the zippers together which we did. We also used two bike type cable locks to keep the sides together on the cargo carrier because these are held only by small cotter pins which are easily removed. We're not paranoid but cautious when traveling. The top closes over the zipper and is secured down with Velcro. There's no way moisture is going to get inside. The material is the toughest most rugged material which leads to the bad news:i gave it five stars anyway because I wouldn't have it any other way but when the temp dropped we had a tough time accessing this because of how tough the bag is. We're 65 and 75 and somewhat arthritic but at 32 degrees, we ended up leaving it unzipped and just closing it over at the campground. It was just that hard to zip. Now the weather is warm so it's much more pliable but keep in mind it becomes rigid in the cold.We considered buying a $700 hard plastic lockable hitch carrier as we're traveling to the NASCAR Championship races in So Fla next month but so glad we bought this instead as this bag and cargo rack combo is much more flexible for us at less than 1/2 the price for both.Update: It's now $70 and we paid $90 (Prime/Smile); you can't go wrong for a hitch carrier bag.

This is a very good product. The size is perfect and the soft sides allow you to stuff whatever you want into it. The water-resistance is as-advertised, I had a nice salt fog from Midwestern winter roads kicked all over the exterior, but the contents were bone dry and free of salt. The side pouches are a nice touch. The bag is thick and well-built, with rugged zippers and enough thickness to stand up when empty and not collapse on itself.Pros: zippers, size, water-resistanceCons: straps are sort of wimpy.

Will buy again. Held up well in snow.
I purchased this for the purpose of taking a 400 mile trip. It ended up snowing heavily on the trip. I used a spider web bungee cord, in addition to the built in straps. For some reason, i didnt trst the straps. But in hindsight it seems like it would have been fine. It held up very well. Other than salt covering the whole thing, the contents remained completely dry. I like how the zipper is covered, so water could not penetrate. I used it on the return trip of 400 miles and it held up fine. I removed some items and the extra zippers reduce the height of the enclosure, better holding the contents. The enclosure is made of very high quality material and it feels like it will last a pretty long time. I was very happy with it and would buy again. I havent washed it yet, since its too cold. I will update when i do, to see how well it held up against the salt.

Cargo carrier
I haven't used it yet but I did a mock load and will carry what I was hoping for. It is not sturdy like some the walls don't stand up but thats not an issue yet since it will be packed full and filled up. It is not the easiest to use since the walls flop over so easy but two of us got past that. I seen some people made a make shift frame to help it stand better out of PVC but didn't feel I needed to do that.

Overall good purchase
We drove from Indiana to Florida and did drive through some pretty heavy rain. Unloaded as soon as we arrived and were so pleased everything was dry. We stored the bag in trunk until time to head home, when we took it out there were a couple scuff marks, we are guessing between the heavy rain and extreme wind on drive down caused this. We did not encounter rain on our way home so at this point don’t know if it will be a problem next trip. We were able to fit 3 suitcases, boogie boards, bag filled with bathroom necessities, and a few other odd and end things.

Waterproof Roof & Cargo Carrier Bag
I recently moved cross country, and bought this to go with my "Curt Manufacturing 18131 2 Piece Basket Cargo Carrier, Folding Shank." They fit together snugly. I am always a little nervous when something claims to be "waterproof," but this bag did not disappoint. It sat in the cargo carrier for 6 days and 2000 miles. It went through all kinds of weather, and held up nicely. Everything inside came out clean and dry. The bag has a zipper that raps around the outside, so you can customize it to fit your items. It also has a flap that covers the top zipper, giving it additional protection from the elements. Inside the bag I was able to fit, 2 large suitcases, a vacuum cleaner, a case of beer, cleaning supplies, and a variety of miscellaneous items that were not in boxes. Since my items were not square, I was worried that the bag might rip/tear. It is extremely durable and lumps didn't even stretch it. While the attached straps would probably be sufficient for a short trip, I didn't trust them for my long trip. I used the attached straps in addition to 3, 1-1/2" ratchet straps I purchased separately. This is a must have for your cargo carrier.

It worked perfectly
This bag held 4 large suitcases easily with enough gap to fill in with other travel items. We hit some rain along the way and nothing was wet. Traveling in Florida sun and heat in the summer did make the bag very hot to handle at times.

This product was not only water proof but dust proof as well. We drove (camping) all over the deserts in AZ and CA for 5 weeks and never had a problem other than a somewhat difficult zipper (hard to get zipper pull around the corners). I would strongly recommend this product however the user must take into account the weight and stiffness of the product - which is apparently what it takes to be so durable, water and dust proof.
