Ehhhh. So so. Here's the thing: I and my son (and my daughter, both in middle school) read Lawless and loved it. Then we read Justice (#2 in the series) and really liked it. Now we're about to finish Mayhem, and it's more of a struggle... along the lines of "well, we've come this far, we may as well get to the end." It's almost like Salane had this last one ghost-written. It's gone from intriguing and exciting and in-theory-in-a-silly-way plausible to just plain "oh, please; this is ridiculous". And it's gone from somewhat reasonable actions by characters to "let's just blow up everything and see how ludicrous we can get." Even my 11-year-old son is totally rolling his eyes and saying "Wait a minute...". I recently recommended the series to someone, and told them "Read the first two books, and then never read the third one. That way you'll always be thinking 'that was great; I sure wish I'd been able to finish the series' ". I don't want them to end up where we are.
