People here will ramble on about anti-cancer effects and other nonsense. The pH of your body is tightly regulated between a small range of 7.35-7.45. The proteins that your body manufactures will denature when not in this range, and thus not work. By drinking baking soda you are providing extra available bicarbonate which can buffer those acids in the muscles and reduce inflammation.
