SOLID, DEPENDABLE, (realatively) EASY TO DEPLOY and (relatively) AFFORDABLE
I've been deploying Sonicwall devices for years - since 2002. They either age out or, back in the early 00's their power supply would crap out. My client base are attorneys and benefit from the site-to-site VPNs and, although not as much as before, still VPNs are in use where there are still onsite servers in play. Firewall snobs scoff at these devices, and have their valid criticisms, but given the limited requirements I have and the limited budget and the infrequency with which I deploy them for my relatively small client base and my resultant inability to remember Cisco OS commands, these fit the bill JUST FINE. I've never cussed out these firewalls or the company late at night solving problems, which is the best testament I could offer for any gear. Competing SMB products crap out presumably because of cheap capacitors but these take the licking and keep on ... uh... firewalling.

Friendly but not too friendly
The setup was fairly easy, but the initial instructions were a bit confusing.

BlueAlly Customer Service Saves the Day
It makes a good deal of difference who you purchase your equipment from. SonicWall TZ270 Network Security Appliance is a solid piece of equipment. The corporate SonicWALL tech support is based in India and consists of "script readers" that have no idea about how the equipment operates. Additionally, SonicWall requires that even to get diagnostic help on newly purchased equipment; you have to subscribe to a service. I have a doctorate in computer systems management and over 20 years as a CTO (now retired). I know when equipment is not operating correctly. I purposely purchased the equipment from BlueAlly through Amazon Marketplace. A delightful and competent BlueAlly Customer Service representative is was able to do get a resolution started with one phone call. Be sure you research your vendor.

Its a very powerful firewall, and has a pretty steep learning curve
Sonic wall is very robust in terms of a firewall. There is a bit of a learning curve, especially if you are a novice IT person. But once it's in, it's very effective.

Mostly great, but not for multiple IP sites
We've had SW routers for years, mostly great. Just started trying to set one up to handle multiple static ips (so we could distribute to a hypervisor). 6 weeks of support never got working. Then, one that had been working for years on a .92 ip poisoned the net on a .93-102 set by always responding with it's MAC address to any ARP request on the sub-net. Known problem with SWs, fixable for some other products in their line, apparently not for this one. Replaced with a Ubiquiti and network humming now. Otherwise great product.
