Q: has this company addressed the flimsy outer mesh issue im reading about?

Not sure if they did but I didn't find it flimsy. My dog did manage to ripsome of it.. but only after continued contact with the ground. He likes to roll on the cement and the part that he rubbed on the ground, after a while it gave in..but the rest is fine. I have the leash and harness and the mesh on those are ok.

Q: actual length of medium collar?

I don't know, but she has a15" neck with plenty to spare.

Q: Does the outside mesh layer last long? Or does it rip easily?

It's tough but relatively soft. I wouldn't say mesh. My dog has very short hair and it didn't bother her, was in the water daily, holding up well.

Q: How durable is this collar?

On my dog, I have found it to be durable, but after 5-6 months of constant wear, it has faded and no longer looks as nice.
