This USB is super fast. As a teacher, I often have large files with multiple pages and images. This is the best USB port I have ever purchased, and I have purchased many.

Encryption
This drive has served me very well. The only "bad thing" about it is Sandisk doesn't advertise its excellent encryption.Mine came with Sandisk SecureAccess. It allows you to build a vault. This vault has AES-128 encryption and is very easy to use. You better not forget your password, though. Write it down somewhere. I the Options settings, you can set the amount of time before it asks you to change it. I took it from one week to 180 days. Everything outside the vault can be seen by you unencrypted. You can use either SecureAccess or File Explorer. What won't appear in File Explorer is what's in the vault.When you first fire it up, it will ask you if you want to upgrade to Western DIgital's PrivateAccess. It's really just an updated SecureAccess. It will update when WD puts out an updated, whereas SecureAccess won't.You pull the drive out of the USB port, and you won't be able to see what's in the vault until you open it with your password. Optionally, you can close the vault and do the same.
