The Best Best BEST
Oh my goodness, this is absolutely the BEST archival fixative I have ever found. It is truly amazing. I work in Colored Pencil and I varnish my work -- and it must be secured under a really good fixative beforehand so that the colors do not bleed when the varnish is applied. Other spray fixatives I have used (which were reportedly made for colored pencil) left countless specks all over my work and no matter how many times I sprayed the fixative, my work always had spots where the colors bled through AND the varnish made many bubbles. It was quite a debilitating challenge. But Lascaux Fixativ has changed my life. The spray has completely sealed my work without ANY little specks or marks or remnants -- it is completely invisible and it completely sealed my work. When I put on the varnish, it was PERFECT. Not a smear, not a bubble. It is gorgeous and has completely transformed my finished pieces. It does not change the color. I am extremely happy with this incredible product. Thank you, Lascaux!

Spray As You Go
I know this can of spray fixative seems ridiculously expensive—and it is—but this is a case in which you truly get what you pay for. I have used just about every brand of spray fixative ever invented, and I can avow that Lascaux Archival fixative is the best. It sprays the finest, most delicate, protective layer of mist available. It's quick and easy to use. The spray nozzle never clogs. Nor have I ever noticed that this fixative discolored any of my work, which is fundamentally important. If you are a serious artist and must spray your work with fixative, don't mess with the cheap stuff. Lascaux Archival fixative serves and protects.

Good Results with Many Coats
This is the most expensive fixative I've used, but came highly recommended above the stuff I usually use. However, it takes far more coats than any I've tried before, such as Krylon's workable fixative. While the instructions claim only a few light coats are needed, it took up to 20 light coats to keep my charcoal drawings from smudging at the slightest touch. And I work rather delicately- these are not heavily worked by any means. Maybe I need to spray far more slowly and much closer than 7-10 inches recommended, but that seems very risky. Final analysis: good results, but time consuming and one can only lasted for about 4 20x30" conte/charcoal drawings.

Good coverage....
Product does exactly as it states. Fixes your drawings and holds pencil or pastel in place. Side to side spray method works well, and work your way down to cover your rendering. Suggest not to spray more than once in same area. Keep spray can at least 10 to 15 inches away while spraying. Has a strong chemical smell so do your spraying outside or room with windows open to ventilate. Smell disappates after 15 minutes estimated. Dries quickly in 15 to 20 seconds. After that you are ready to archive your work or frame etc ...

Superior Producct
The price of this fixative is a bit painful but it sure does get the job done! I've tried all the other brands and none actually set my pastel drawings like this Lascaux. It's workable too - I've retouched and had no issues. Pigments stay nearly true to their pre-fixative colors - they might darken ever so slightly but not nearly as much as the other brands. Hands down, the best fixative I've used.

Works!
Be careful with this fixative . Light coats and it works wonderfully. Resist the urge to apply a heavier coat.
