Appliance with MICS - the Made In China Syndrome
This appliance although well designed (probably in the US) suffered from MICS (pronounced "mix") or Made In China Syndrome with QC and reverse engineering problems. One of the castor wheels was missing, such that it toppled on removal from the carton, the tolerances were 2-3mm off in the housing, and the exhaust hose was extremely difficult to fit, and a venturi valve venting condensation through the exhaust hose was absent. Deming introduced QC or quality control to the Far East last century. It worked like this. One item, say the 50th in a production line was taken, tested and dismantled and reassembled. If two or more of a hundred items in a production run were defective, that entire run would be scrapped and the production line re-engineered. Due to draconian and punitive working conditions in China, workers and management conceal such defects, and those products not obviously defective are disposed off as 1) Sent to and sold at discount in third world countries, where the chances of obtaining free replacements or refunds under warranties are approximately those of a snowflake in hell. 2) Sold in Oil Rich Middle Eastern (ORME) countries where a defective new appliance is thrown away and a replacement purchased immediately without further ado. 3) Sold at discount (discounted from a greatly inflated MSRP) over the internet, where the time and costs (shipping and handling) of returning a defective appliance makes the customer hesitate, and customer complaints and requests for refunds are handled by an endless loop Catch-22 automated service. Therefore, my advice to customers buying a Made In China appliance over the internet is to have it shipped for pickup to a brick-and-mortar store with easy access to the management and good customer service.

Fantastic AC!
I live in a 2 story apartment in sunny southern California with no AC unit upstairs. Hot summer nights meant sleepless, miserable summer nights, haha. This A/C keeps the upstairs loft area nice and cool all night, even during the summer. I definitely recommend this unit.

Incredibly cool!
At $100,000 this air conditioner doesn't just cool my bedroom, it looks cool while doing it! As I unboxed my shiny new air conditioner I was mesmerized by its beauty! Due to the price I had put on a pair of lint-free white cotton gloves, but once I unpacked it, I realized that my fears of scratching the unit were unfounded. As it turns out, the shell of this baby is constructed of sapphire, so it's nearly impossible to scratch! Anyway, as I was unpacking it my roomate blew a breaker when she turned on her inferior $500 window unit, but, my room was still bright. This air conditioner has such beauty that it actually emits a God-like aura, a beautiful glow, eliminating the need to turn on my lights! Anyway, I put together the installation kit, connected the hose, and turned on the air conditioner, and it took no time at all to start blowing hurricane-force 34ºF air, rapidly cooling my bedroom down to a nice comfy 65ºF (it was 90ºF that evening) and then I realized something: I never plugged the air conditioner in! I was curious, so I removed the back panel and as I did that I noticed a couple of things: there is no drain for condensation, there is what appears to be a turbocharger-like assembly, and a big rectangular assembly which is lead shielded. I can only assume that this thing is nuclear-powered, the condensation is used for cooling the core, and that the plug is there to feed power back into the grid! So, I went ahead and plugged in the unit, and lo and behold, my next electric bill was in the negative, and enclosed with it was a check for $485 - and I had plugged it in only a day the end of the billing cycle! I highly recommend this unit. Does it cool? You bet. Is it worthy of worship? The pictures don't do it justice but once you unpack it, you can be the judge of that. Is it green? Sure, until it comes time to dispose of it, but believe you me, this air conditioner is so amazing that you will never want to part with it. In fact I am closing down my business so I can bask in the glory of this air conditioner and let it earn money for me while I enjoy the nice refreshing air. There is one other thing though: ever since sitting in the air path of this unit, I've grown a sixth toe on each foot, and a sixth finger on each hand, and my dog has grown wings, so there might be a radiation leak. I should have it fixed, but I am hoping for super powers. As far as this unit goes, I highly recommend it. At $100,000, within seven months it will have paid for itself, so I am ordering two more. The only real problem I had was that NStar reps came by and told me that I was overloading their switches, and they have to upgrade my connection to the grid to handle the power I am feeding back into it. Overall a very sound financial move on my part. Don't let the $100,000 price tag throw you off- I would happily pay twice that price for this beauty! -------- Update: you might wonder why I wrote a parody review. The reason is through some anomaly Amazon's system shot the price up to $100,000.

More made in china quality products
Completely unattractive design that would be ok if it was able to cool somewhat. 8000 BTUs just does not work unless you have very low expectations. The gigantic display is like some spaceship control panel. Very bizarre. Try calling manufacturer's customer service, if you're lucky enough to get someone, it can be quite comical. very very unrecommended.
