BEST quality & fair price
BEST SHAMMY EVER! I have been buying these ORIGINAL GERMAN SHAMMYS forever... can't remember how many years that's how long. They last & last & last... Countless washings too. I DO NOT dry in dryer, because I don't think that's necessary, they dry super fast just hanging over something, so why waste more costs for drying. These are tough, pick up so much, & absorb more than I thought. They are my go to for fast absorption &/or big clean up. Years ago, a water leak got into another room in carpet. I swear these picked up near as much as a shop vac a friend brought! Plus my other dry ones I laid over top of carpet area after shop vac & as we walked through these absorbed more. So I rotated with dry until they couldn't absorb anymore. I have used them on my 100# long haired dog to absorb after bath. So much better than towels. They wash nicely. If I've picked up debris with it, I can shake it out, then wash. What I save vs paper towels, multiple rags (which wear out years sooner) & dryer usage, per 1 shammy, they more than pay for themselves. So fair in price & such great quality. I will say after YEARS of use they can start to pill, but still do the same great job.

HALLELUJAH!
Hallelujah! I cannot tell you (but I will) how much searching I have done to find REAL (what I call) chamois cloths. Not the leather ones (which are probably actually real chamois) but the orange ones I knew from the 1980’s. I was reintroduced to them via a self-serve dog wash where they had them out to help dry your pup. They worked beautifully and were strong and had the perfect texture. I asked where they bought the ones they had. I was directed to - what else - WalMart (a store I despise) but I drove there anyway, but left empty-handed. Since that was a no-go, I stopped at an ACE Hardware. Nope. Dollar Tree? Nope. I went to automotive stores and bought what they were selling as chamois and it was a tough, stiff, RUBBERY waste of time and money. WHERE ARE THESE ORANGE CLOTHS??? I had no idea what the dog shop one was made out of since it was so thoroughly worn (and still in great shape) so searching via material did not help. I finally figured out that it’s NOT PVC. But what is “Viscose”? Like in most things, I had to look online and take my risks. I had wanted to see it and touch it BEFORE buying, but that’s apparently out of the question these days. Ordered these with trepidation, and just tried one last night! Hallelujah, it IS the fabric I’ve been searching for!!! These are large and you can cut them to size. Comparing to the ‘dog shop’ sample I have, at first this one seemed thinner, but I think it’s more of a textural difference. This one is smoother. The other one is more like a blanket texture, if that makes any sense. BUT, I think they will do just fine. I am just so thrilled that someone is still making an original product and it hasn't been cheapened so the company can squeeze out one more penny of profit, ruining what was once a great product. This happens to too many to count (but I do … Merrell shoes … dermalogica … on and on). Thanks for keeping these as they were, and I hope I can buy them again years later and see that nothing’s changed! Excellent!

Hard to know what to expect from these towels
I cut off a rectangular piece from one of the large sheets I got. I am not an experienced chamois user, so I don't know what is normal or what is exceptional. But these don't seem that absorbent. Are my expectations too high? Perhaps. I remember those old ShamWow commercials and it seems like these should pick up more water, faster than they do. When my glass containers, which have been in the fridge, get water drops on the lids and I try to dry them using this chamois, it just doesn't seem to absorb the droplets better than my old cotton dish rags. As said, maybe I am just an inexperienced user. I never planned on using these to dry my car after washing, so I can't offer any comments about that. So, I will learn more perhaps as time goes on. It's not like I use these every day. They are kind of an emergency only item - and the price seemed right to experiment with.

Get the original - knock offs can't compete
I made the mistake of trying to buy knock off shammies in the past. I haven't had any luck with them. They end up not absorbing or they feel like sandpaper. The original is still the best. Soft, absorbent, and durable. I use them as ultralight towels for backpacking and back country swimming (large version). They are awesome and dry out quickly.
