Fairly good sound effects for button one. Button two plays for too long with no way to interrupt it. It's light and plastic. The cover is very clunky to get open. It pretty much takes two hands to fiddle with it which diminishes the fun. All in all it's the best I could find on short notice and the price is good for what it is.

If you're looking for a quality, low cost, and slightly smaller than normal replica of Star Trek's communicator, then definitely consider this one. It's a bit smaller than the on-screen original props used on Star Trek, but if that doesn't bother you, then this will be a perfect addition to any Trekkie's collection. The communicator looks and feels almost exactly like it does in the original series, and comes complete with lights and sounds. The button on the left, makes the iconic chirping sound while the button on the right plays a few seconds of sci-fi sounds. Both makes the lights on the communicator flash while the sounds are playing. The yellow mesh-like "guard" on the communicator doesn't flip up and down quite as easily as it does on the show though. You need to use your fingers on the round edges where the guard meets the communicator to flip it open. Then you can close it shut normally, but this is, so far, the only drawback I've seen with this prop. Also included is a little booklet exploring the history of the communicator prop which is worth the read. So if you're looking for a quality (albeit smaller sized) replica of Star Trek's iconic communicator, then definitely give this prop your consideration.

Saw this on tiktok but needed it asap so ordered through amazon. Got it as a prop for some cosplaying. It’s not to scale but it’s a great, fun replica if you’re not looking for the exact same dimensions

Contrary to what Online videos of this communicator's review showed, the batteries still worked. What a surprise! I still went to Dollar store to get LR41 Batteries, and checked if that would make a difference. And what! No difference. So, the batteries in this are perfect. If they run out , $1.5 is what will cost you to change the batteries. Regarding the actual communicator, this is awesome. Perfect for giving as a gift to Star Trek Fans, and is easy on the bank too. There is another one that goes for $70 or so, but this one costs only $18. Although the size is mini, but the fun is full sized !!!!!! Jumbo fun not mini fun haha. Captain Kirk out~~
