In the JJ website demo, the garbage being crushed is regular trash. Are you saying it doesn't even compact that?

Yup. It’s the worst. If it compresses at all, it’s maybe 1/10th of the trash. But the compression mechanism is plastic, so not very strong, and the bags, inevitably do not stay up. So you’re just compacting the bag down with it. So, if it compacts at all, pulling the bag back up to normal level inevitably undies all your work. It sounded so great, but it’s flawed. I’d be willing to try an updated version, but until then, the design flaws are just not worth it. We got the simple human side by side and a can crusher (works on other stuff, too) and that helps. I really was hoping this product could deliver on its promises, but I’d never recommend it. And after a few tries to reach the company for help, I just gave up and sent them back (we had two). Hope this helps.

Does this crush your waste electronically or does it use your own force to crush it?

It’s not electronic and it only takes the place of you pushing the trash down with your hand. It will break if you push to hard.

The cover to my filter came off in the trash and evidently was thrown away. Is there a was to purchase just the filter cover?

At first, it felt like a big trash can, but it took a while to feel very good, because the large-caliber trash can is easy to dump things. But it is in summer that garbage is too much and smells bad. Although there is carbon purification in the garbage can, the effect is not very great.
