perfect for the beginner who wants to knock together a ...
Totally lovely kit, perfect for the beginner who wants to knock together a few circuits with their Arduino or Raspberry Pi. It offers one huge benefit to the dabbler over other similar kits: organization. All components are carefully bagged, most of them bagged separately, with combined bags pretty logical (22pf and 104 pf capacitors are in the same bag)Resistors are labelled in a neat hand on their paper strips if you haven't learned the color codes yet.Transistors and Integrated Circuits are all listed on the little part sheet with their part number, so it's easy to google them. The cute little box stays shut with a satisfying *snap* and is secure tossed into a toolbox.A breadboard power supply is included, though as others have noted not required 6-15v input power adapter, These adapters should be widely available. I grabbed a 9v and 12v ac adapter from my local goodwill and it performed beautifully. If you need a full datasheet for this poweradapter, just search the part number '545043' and you can find all the info you'll need. This is an entirely solderless kit, with all the parts working perfectly with a breadboard.Note that if you're trying to do hardware hacking with a Raspberry Pi, this kit also includes some socket-to-prong cables, making your life a *lot* easier when connecting to its onboard pins. While this kit includes every part you might need to do your first hardware hacking, you might consider picking up a cheap multimeter and a few power-supply AC adaptors or battery boxes in addition.

but most of it works great and is packaged nicely
Cheap stuff, but most of it works great and is packaged nicely. Love it for the price, I keep buying their stuff so I must like it.UPDATE: After writing this review Elegoo reached out to me and sent me another package, plus bonus wires, breadboard, and resistors! New favorite seller (I review everything, this never happens). Highly recommend this store!

Most of the Jumper wires are defective!
The kit seems okay so far and all other components checked out okay but I had troubles with the 65 pieces of jumper wires! Most of them tend to have some connection issues or the other as you twist and turn and insert them into Breadboard for Arduino Computing platform. When you are preparing your test circuit having a bad jumper wire can be nightmare. After several attempts of troubleshooting a circuit.. I found the culprit is the included jumper wires from this kit..Electronic enthusiast Builders beware..!!! the jumper wires in the kit are garbage... Forced to rate the otherwise nicely put kit down to three stars!EDIT: Nov 03 2018. - Revising the product rating to five stars! The manufacturer reached out to me and took my feedback about the jumper wires. The manufacturer was kind enough to replace the defective jumper wires. That clearly shows manufacturer cares about their product quality and provides excellent customer service. Since the replacement jumper wires are great I am revising my rating to five stars!

Bad connectors
Connectors are too small for standard breadboards and can lose contact. The wire gauge and durability is also substandard. There is nothing worse than trying to troubleshoot a complicated circuit when a wire or two is not connected. Worthless in my opiniondowngraded my rating subsequently. Now I have connector pins that separate from the wire. really disappointed.Update: The mfr took it upon themselves to send out replacement wires as well as more breadboards. These replacement wires are great!

Junk breadboard, junk jumper wires
First of all, a lot of the reviews are for the cheapest kit I'm reviewing the larger kit with the larger breadboard, which is junk. There are a lot of random parts, which is great, but when the breadboard and jumper wires are so terrible, it doesn't really matter. The breadboard is misaligned or something, because in several spots the jumper wires slide in with zero resistance, and other spots they refuse to go in. It's frustrating also because the pins on the jumper wires keep coming off in the "normal" spots with a bit of resistance. I've had the kit for a week and I've had around 10 pins come out of the jumper cable tips, and the only way to get the pins out of the breadboard is with a pair of pliers. The kit comes in a cardboard box, despite the description for it saying "Great quality and packing in a plastic box". The active buzzer sticker that says "Remove after washing" was loose in the bag. The LEDs surprisingly all worked. Overall though, it's frustrating using this kit because it takes away all the convenience of using a breadboard to begin with if you have to force jumper wires in and pull the jumper wire pins out with pliers.

Good quality, but really a supplemental kit only.
This is an interesting though basic set for breadboarding. The quality is very good and includes a good number of elements, all good quality, that you can find in other kits, including the LEDs, resistors, etc. The interesting component is the optocoupler. I've picked up other brands of these kits, including HSU, CanaKit, and Freenove, and this is the only one that includes the 4N35 IC. There's also a small case of thicker gauge, pre-formed jumpers that you can see in the upper left corner of the exploded contents picture; again, something I haven't encountered before. Other than those items, this kit will limit what you can do with your Raspberry Pi, or Arduino, experiments, if this is all you get alongside one of those. It's a good supplement to a kit with more components, as it lacks some of the typical items found elsewhere, such as a variety of transistors, diodes, relays, and especially sensors. It's all packed well into a nice little case, too. If you go to their site (elegoo.com/downloads/), you find that this kit is really intended for use with the Arduino Uno. And since Elegoo produces several similar kits that include an Arduino Uno (and with a larger variety of components), it's a bit curious as to how this kit fits into their product line up.

Buy to try, Buy something else after you know you enjoy it. Stay for the company
Purchased this a few days ago after taking a lesson on the Raspberry pi.Long story short:I would suggest you buy this product If you want to try your hand at electronics, but buy something else if you do enjoy it.Long Story:I have mixed feelings about this kit. First off, It allowed me to see if i enjoyed working on hardware project, But at the same time I was frustrated by how cheep everything felt. The jumper cables felt cheep, the breadboard was a pain to use and they supplied a power supply without any plug to connect it to, I understand why they didn't but a 9V battery clip would have been enough to power the device. All the components work great, I managed to break a few jumper cables but I didn't expect them to last.UPDATE:After my initial review the company got in touch to see why I wasn't 100% satisfied. They where extremely nice and more than happy to help, to the point that they sent me some extra bits.I was expecting the same breadboard and some extra jumper cables. I recieved 3 breadboards and a load of jumper cables, which was a bit of a nice supprise. but this means I can't change my original review, But I would like to expand on it :)so once again "The short story":I enjoyed the product and would suggest you buy it if you want to try out electronics. But I will stick with what I said, buy something else if you really enjoy it and want to do more. The long story:Like I mentioned I loved the product, It had its faults(which I will cover) but over all I enjoyed the kit. I said it before but It allowed me to check if I would enjoy electronics. The jumper cables where a pain and the breadboard was a bit hard to insert the cables into for a while, but after a few uses they loosen up a bit.The good things:The breadboard is a nice size, I was able to fit the 74HC595 (Shift registor) 8 LED's and a 7 segment display all on the one board, it was a bit of a squeeze. The components all came in bags, non of the pins were bent. They supplied loads of jumper cables (more than you will every use on the one breadboard). The kit came with an 8-bit shift registor, which allows you to control 8 leds with 3 connections to any microcontroller. They supplied a 3.3v and 5v power supplyThe really good:There is only one really good point. They care about their customers. They emailed me to see what I had issues with. They took my feedback and also sent me some goodies as an appology for the issues I expressed. The bad things:The jumper cables felt cheap (the second set I got sent where better). The printed lines on the breadboard rubbed off, same with the numbers and letters :/The power supply didn't come with a adapter to connect connect power.I wasn't able to test the power supplier because I don't have a connector for it :/I would also make some suggestions that would make this product better.Supply a 9V battery clip with the adapter so we could use the power supply.I would have liked a small datasheet or pinout of the 8-bit shift registor and optocoupler. It would have been great if you put a 555 timer chip with the product as well, just because it's such a popular chip (it has loads of fun and simple project that will get people hooked).Following on from the last one, supplier a few project or just a circuit diagram for the shift registor :)To finish off I will say this:Buy it, it's only £10 and its a nice way to check if you enjoy electronics, I hope the company take my suggestions and atleast supply the 9v battery clip.

Failed for my specific need
I bought this initially to allow me to make up a little resistance network to calibrate a LiPo balance charger without having to solder everything. I bought a load of 1% 100ohm resistors separately and measured each one using a dmm so I could get 6 that were the same. The resistance values need to be very accurate for the calibration. There are things I like about the kit. It came very well packaged with a nice security seal and statement about rejecting the package if the seal was broken. Unfortunately, this was all inside the outer Amazon packaging and by the time I opened it up and saw the security seal on the inner package the delivery driver was long gone! Thankfully the seal was fine as were the contents. Everything is inside a nice plastic box, but there is so much in there that you have a hard job getting it all back inside the box after taking it out. There lots of items and I am sure that these will allow some fun and educational circuits to be made up. That was why I bought this and not just a standalone breadboard for a couple of pounds less. Glad I did because this brings me to the main negative point. After making up my resistor network on the breadboard and connecting everything to the balance lead for the charger I checked the resistance across the various connectors. Values were way off (once I managed to get any reading at all - some of the connector wires seemed to be making poor connections on the breadboard). I made up the circuit a different way and used the pin connector strip to connect into the balance lead. Very similar results, so I took it all apart and will solder the network together like I originally intended.I expect that for making up simple circuits on the breadboard for some fun and education purposes the kit will be fine (time will tell), but unfortunately for the specific purpose I bought it for it did not work (although I may have been expecting too much).

Good Value
First things first...Electronics involves small components and electricity; all be it in this case 9v DC maximum. So be careful.***Note***If the magic smoke escapes; the magic stops.Buy a 9v battery and a 9v battery holder with a barrel jack that works with a breadboard power supply; because it’s not got one. (Get over it)This kit can give you hands on experience making circuits to light LEDs, make flashing LEDs using Transistors etc.You can also learn about ‘Voltage Dividers, RC circuits, Series and Parallel circuits.’It’s not restricted to what you will learn from the website.YouTube contains a wealth of information. This kit is a starting point that can lay down a solid foundation that can lead you to go on to buying more advanced kits that can prepare you for Arduino or Raspberry Pi projects. What I would suggest buying is a couple of 555 timers, a couple of Op Amps and a 4017 decade counter. (My personal thoughts)The thing is...This is a budget priced starter kit from a respected company that has provided some great lessons in electronics. They really are ok.To conclude...Great value kit but you’ll need to some power to power up the breadboard PSU and getting some extra ICs will mean it’ll have you making some cool stuff.

Incredible value for money considering the quality
I started my interest in electronics in a different age, more than 40 years ago. In those days, breadboards were very expensive and out of the reach of most hobbyists. Many a time I recycled components and the stripboard, as the cost was prohibitive. A trip to the electronics shop was expensive, and much pocket money was diligently saved for the latest chip or piece of kit. This kit which I purchased to support my Elegoo Arduino, like the processor board itself, is top notch. Extremely well packaged, I was impressed with how much was crammed into the box. The fact that high-quality polythene bags were used for the components speaks volumes, although in my day we would be looking at tin-foil or anti-static bags for the more sensitive components. I get the impression once again that Elegoo care about their customers and the quality of their offering. My only criticism I can make is trivial. The breadboard is in 3 sections, with a large self-adhesive pad for attaching to a permanent surface. I'd have preferred if the pad was packed separately, that way I could expand the board horizontally without fuss if needed. As to how long the components will last etc., with care and attention they should last well. The legs of any component will eventually give up the ghost with too much bending, and wiring errors will easily kill off polarity sensitive components such as diodes and capacitors etc. All of that is part of the rough and tumble of circuit development and testing. I wouldn't expect the kit to last forever, but it certainly won't break once you take it out the packaging.I know if as a kid my dad had brought this home I would be ecstatic. If you are looking for a components kit to introduce someone as to how to expand their Arduino or Raspberry Pi, I can't recommend this enough. You will need to purchase a device separately to get any use from it though.

Not a bad purchase
Decent kit if you're just looking to get started working with electronics. It has most of what you need to get off the ground at reasonable value.A few of the positives:- The breadboard is very nice, much better build quality than others I've purchased in the past.- The majority of the components work well.- The box and individual packaging of the components is useful and relatively well made.- The power supply module is attached to some foam so the pins won't bend in shipping. Then, the negatives:- The buzzers worked, but not very well.- The power supply module seems pretty cheap, and I doubt it will last long. It also doesn't come with an appropriate cable, so you'll have to supply your own to make use of it. I expected this last part because I read about its absence in other reviews, but I didn't anticipate it being such an odd cable required.- A few of the LEDs didn't work correctly (although the majority did).Overall, not a bad purchase, but if you already have some of the parts already, perhaps look for cheaper options, or something more reliable.Edit: ELEGOO contacted me after I wrote this review and sent me replacement parts without any hastle. I upgraded my rating since their customer service was so good.
