BARK COLLAR

Great collar system, totally recommend
This e-collar has been a huge success for our 6 month old goldendoodle so far. I had reservations about e-collars but after trying this one & trying it the right way, not just for punishment, our dog is responding & listening to us so much better. I would recommend this product to any dog owner who wants to train their dog & have their dog actually start to listen to them. I'm excited to keep working with my pup & using this collar system to get him trained & we'll behaved. Of course my husband tried out the collar on his leg & number 1 is like a slight pinch & 100 is of course stronger & feels like a more painful pinch/shock. When using this collar please watch some YouTube videos first on how to effectively train your dogs with an e-collar because it's very important that you do it right the first time & not make it a horrible experience for the dog or you could cause more issues & break your dogs trust in you. After watching a few videos on YouTube we have learned how to properly use this collar & our pup is responding amazingly.

Almost awesome
Backstory, I adopted a 6 year old hound mix a year and a half ago (she's now a little over 7). Being part beagle, she liked to bark a lot, especially at everything that had 4 legs while on walks. When I first got her, if she got within sight of another dog, even if it was 4 blocks away, she would instantly go into end-of-leash, full-volume-barking mode. It drove me nuts, and made walks not fun.For a long time, I was afraid of using "negative" type reinforcement; the last time I'd used an electronic collar was about 8 years ago, and back then, they weren't sold on Amazon, they cost about $100 for a cheap one at the local pet superstore, and they had very limited features (more on this below). But using positive reinforcement training only, over the course of a year, had slowly brought her barking protocol down to about 50 yards (HUGE improvement), but there was some minimum distance that I just couldn't break, no matter how hard I worked on the positive reinforcement bit.Long story short, I accidentally discovered negative reinforcement using bubble wrap (she REALLY dislikes bubbles being popped), but that only worked for about a week, and it was already making a magical difference. So I decided to invest in this collar and give more negative reinforcement (in conjunction with positive reinforcement) a try.I can say that in just a month of using it, her lunging/barking protocol is down enough that I can walk within a few feet of a calm dog, or across the street from an excited dog, without her trying to rip my shoulder out of the socket. I am AMAZED.So, down to the rating. Why only 4 stars? There are a lot of things I like, but a few things that that I hate that killed off the extra star.Pros:- Multiple modes: back in the olden days, the only thing that electronic collars did was shock; there wasn't any vibrate function, which was great if all you wanted to do was scare the dickens out of your dog when they did something really naughty, but there was no "intermediate" correction for minor boo-boos. I use the vibrate on average 4-6 times/day, to help remind her to break focus lock and pay attention, and I use the shock very sparingly, for when she ignores the vibrate.- Long battery life: even though there's no on-off switch and both the collar and transmitter will turn themselves off after not being used, the battery seems to last a long time. I use it every time she goes outside, so it's on for probably about an hour each day. I gave it a full charge about 4 weeks ago, and it still works.- Strong electric shock (if you need it): Before using it on my pooch, I tried the shocker on myself. Let me tell you, I've been electrocuted repeatedly in the past by my home doing home improvement projects, and I'd rather get shocked by household 120V ten times before I get shocked by this collar again. It hurts. A lot. But, that also makes a very powerful and effective correction. I zapped her once for going berserk at the little yappy neighbor pooch, and while I can tell that she's still thinking about it, she hasn't done it again since.Cons:Useless belt clip: Being a hiker, I'm always looking for the best, most convenient way to carry stuff. This thing has no loop to connect a lanyard, and the included belt clip is absolutely worthless. There's no spring in it to keep tension, so it just pops off and falls on the ground at the slightest touch.Vibration "power" settings are useless: All the 100 power settings do is change the frequency of the vibration, which is sort of a useless adjustment.Clunky switching between modes: I wish that there was 1 button for vibrate, and 1 button for shock. It's clunky switching from one to the other, if I need to quickly deliver a shock right after a vibrate. No on-off switch: Means that there's no way to keep the transmitter on for a long time while taking her on a walk (the collar stays on because it's motion-activated). If I haven't used it in a couple of minutes, there's no way for me to know if pressing the mode button is turning it on, or switching it to electric shock, unless I look at the screen. And, the Mode button is the only one that wakes up the transmitter, which is annoying. I would REALLY rather be able to keep it in my pocket and trust that it would stay in vibrate mode, but there's no way for me to tell. At the very least, I wish that the "transmit" button would also wake the remote, but if the remote is off, none of the buttons wake it except the Mode button. All in all, this is a great product, especially at this price point. There are a few minor quibbles that knocked it a star, but this product is still totally worth the $30 I paid for it.

Miracle worker
Oh, I love this. I have a 12 year old American Eskimo Dog, who is an absolute doll, but cannot stop herself from barking hysterically and running after the neighbors golf cart. Thankfully we live on a dead end dirt road, so no worries about cars, but still, terribly annoying. I set everything on the lowest settings, and tested it out. On the first try, the "beep" surprised her, but didn't stop the barking. I then went to a mild vibration, which I don't think she felt at all (very thick coat). I stepped it up to a high level, and she stopped for a second, but then continued with the hysterics. I then used the shock setting at 20. The poor girl gave a yelp, did a 180 and ran back to me. Fast. I felt terrible, but know that she was far more surprised than hurt (it really is very mild). The next time she barked and started to run towards the neighbor, I used the sound setting, and she *instantly* spun around and came back to me! I couldn't believe it! I have been struggling with this for YEARS! Seriously happy with this device and only wish I had tried it much, much earlier.

Five Stars
Works great! I wish it had auto mode for barking, but is otherwise just what I needed.
