Works great……. When it works!
I have had the iGate for about 5 years. I am purchasing my 3rd sensor today. So I’m averaging 1 every year and a half. Once the original battery goes out new ones will not help. This last time, I have changed the batteries twice in 2 weeks. Something is draining them. Plus these N type batteries are not the easiest to find on top of everything.

Good sensor, but could be improved for better durability & waterproofing
Works great, but could be made stronger and more weather proof. We love ours and use it to make our Cozy Gate motor able to connect to Apple HomeKit using the iSmartgate controller. However, our first one died because I didn't before I set up my spring system to always keep the sensor touching the magnet when closed. It does because smashing the magnet broke the seal on the sensor and rain water got in and shorted it out.

Hit or miss with this Wireles Sensor
I bought two Ismartgate openers, one for our garage and the other for our gate. Every 6 months I have to replace the sensor for both garage & the gate. From my experience once the batteries go out and you pop in new batteries in these sensors its hard to reconnect them to the Ismart(not so Smart hub). So, if you have the patience or can afford to replace the sensor $40 at a time then this product is for you. Also, by that time if you can't remember your password or it didn't save it properly its impossible to recover your password; essentially you have to reset the hub & start over again. Could be a great product if they made the sensors, software, password recovery much better.

Consider this sensor to be a $45 annual subscription.
They last about a year. They begin corroding inside at about 8 months, and fail just after the 1 year warranty expires. The screws and casing material are not designed to withstand removal of the cover for the necessary battery change. The plastic is fragile, the threads break out or strip the first time you take it apart, and then it will not assemble properly. The battery clips bond to the battery terminals, so when removing the old batteries, the clips will pull right out of the circuit board and ruin the whole thing unless you know this will happen, and take elaborate precautions to avoid it. Plan to spend about $45 a year for a new one every year.

Not Waterproof
These sensors work fine and are easy to configure and the battery life is decent. The iSmartgate system is good and it integrates with Apple Homekit, so from a system standpoint it would get 5 stars. As a system, I highly recommend it. iSmartgate controls our 3 Genie garage doors as well as out Bulldog gate opener. However, this gate sensor is made to be mounted outside and although it is advertised as waterproof, it is not. This is our 3rd sensor in less than a year. You can see from the picture of the inside of the housing how it filled up with water.I have now also ordered a separate enclosure for the sensor which can be found here.https://www.amazon.com/LMioEtool-Waterproof-Transparent-3-7x2-6x2-2-95x65x55mm/dp/B08GG1Q1P5/ref=sr_1_50?dchild=1&keywords=small+waterproof+box&qid=1626558049&sr=8-50Hopefully this solves the problem.

18 month failure
I added this wireless remote sensor to my already installed iSmartgate unit. Easy setup, and it worked great on the original batteries for 18 months. (2stars) But then, after replacing the batteries with Energizer, the thing started eating them, two at a time, in 4 days. The batteries are not common (e90) and difficult to find off the shelf. Nor are they inexpensive when you do find them. Since "Hope springs eternal" I went through 3 sets before I figured that something was amiss.I contacted the iSmartgate support via email and they did respond promptly, suggesting that I make sure that the software was up to date, which it was. The only other explanation they could provide was that the sensor had failed and since I was out of warranty which is 1 year, I could just go ahead and purchase a new one. Sage advice.I've determined that if the new one, purchased from Amazon for $39.99 behaves the same, I will return it and remove the thing from my gate. It's a nice convenience but certainly not a necessity for the gate to open remotely. It only tells you the gate status. I've used wired sensors on other similar products by other manufacturers and experienced significant battery drain of my main gate battery as well. It seems that this is not an uncommon characteristic for a remote sensor, wired or wireless. That said, I'm guessing, based on the other reviews, that this particular item needs a bit more R&D before it's ready for real world action.
