It works, but know what you're getting into
I bought this book because I've been trying to solve some perimenopausal issues through nutrition. I followed the 28 day elimination diet (did not add in progesterone until after the diet) and I have been successful at extending my typically short cycle and slowing the flood. The breakfasts changed my life - I was not hungry until lunchtime, which is unusual for me, so I will continue to seek out protein fiber fat designed breakfasts meals. All of the recipes were very good for all of the meals, so no complaints there. I just wish there were more recipes in general. I'm generally not a fan of meal plans that repeat weeks, and especially ones which repeat recipes within those weeks. The one area that I think is underestimated is the time commitment required to get through the food reintroduction phase. "It's just 28 days" is repeated throughout, but it's really 28 days plus up to 2 months. There is some information in the book about how to approach reintroduction, but I had to do some independent research to really understand the risks and best process. You really do need to introduce things back one at a time, it can be really dangerous if you have an unknown allergy and you overload your system. Also pay attention to not only foods that were explicitly listed to eliminate, but foods that you haven't been eating by virtue of the plan (shrimp, peanuts, coconut). Once you factor individual nightshades, four types or dairy reintroduction, etc, you're looking at it being at least a two month process. And if you're unlucky enough as me to react to nearly everything that has been reintroduced, you'll need to continue basically the elimination phase until you're clear.I've been gluten free for awhile so I'm used to navigating menus, but once you layer in all of the eliminated foods, you pretty much need to avoid eating out at all (and I live in a metro area with lots of healthy options). Plan to cook a majority of your food, and don't make social or travel plans that involve eating out, which is hard to find for a 3 month stretch.

If you are experiencing signs of Estrogen Dominance, GET THIS BOOK! Telling all my GenX friends!
I have been following Magdelena's work for several years, love her last book Hormone Reset and her Thyroid Detox program. Let me be honest, I would follow a program, and then something would come up like a trip and then I would be back to my old ways. Until I can't ignore it anymore, I need help. My hormones are kicking my butt and in particular a lot of fibroids that are getting bigger every year. My doctor is offering pills or a medical procedure that "might help" but comes with it's own risks. So I've decided to give things a real try and picked up her last book to go through the elimination diet and see what's really going on. A week into the program, her new book came out and I ordered it, so Glad I did!! This is Exactly what I need, and takes off where the last book left off.Magdalena really knows her stuff, she's not rehashing information she learned from reading, but from working with real life clients and her own experiences. The book takes you from explaining estrogen dominance and it's symptoms (of which I have many) to working with dietary changes, potential supplements (showing exactly what each one does), various mealplans depending upon your issue, and on. There are ton of delicious recipes - be sure to try the Fisherman's Breakfast and Garlicky Lemon Chicken - as well as various drinks, elixirs, and self care products such as homemade salves and casteroil packs. She gets into the nitty gritty of what your body needs to heal and has specific protocols for issues such as fibrocystic breast, PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, hot flashes and more. The pages are beautiful, lots of colorful pictures and drawings, as well as lots of great items you will use every day. I have already given a copy to a good friend.Once you get the book, be sure to sign up for her mailing list at hormonesbalance.com . She shares relevant articles on all things hormones, as well as more recipes and ideas. The FB group Hormone Thrives is a terrific community as well. Cannot say enough!0 Just 3+ weeks in I'm already feeling more energy, less inflammation, and my digestion is working so much better.Note that I received nothing in exchange for this review, I'm just a happy customer and if you are having any potential estrogen issues, I strongly recommend that you to get this book.

Great Starting point and Birds eyeview
This book is great starting point. It's a birds eye view of hormones and how they work in our bodies and what we can do. All the suggestions may seem overwhelming but it's more important to give yourself grace to learn and implement one thing at a time. Your mentality should be "ALL OR SOMETHING" meaning learn one thing at a time taking a bunch of micro-steps towards your goal. The overview will help each individual learn to ask questions that help them drill down in to their own health journey. We don't know all the question we need to be asking yet....this book helps us towards that. The recipes won't work for everyone...but they give you an idea of what is healthy and what to look for in alternatives. I already know my food sensitivities and macros/micros so I modified the recipes to fit my needs and recreated them in the app My Fitness Pal on my phone. For example: I needed more protein in most of the recipes to help curb my blood sugar so the app helped me to do that.I'm also on a budget so I dedicated the first 2-4 months towards only the supplements and life style changes that supported cleaning my liver then as I felt better and didn't need to take the same supplements I would introduce a new one each month as I phased one out. This also gives me time to learn and pivot direction as my body changes.
